SOURCE: #11 Fuse blows when you try to start Jeep.

What size is the #11 fuse?

My guesstimate is that they are referring to the ignition coil. That is involved in providing high voltage to the spark plugs. If the coil has a short this would blow the fuse.

SOURCE: GM 2.8 Liter Engine ECM/Coil will produce spark

does a 85 have a ECU unit ??? sounds like it could be the switching transistor thats either under the coil or inside the distributor should look like a black plastic casing with 3/4 wires running to it then to the coil look at this first as often motor runs ,stop for a quickie somewhere and jump back in and engine will not fire up ,classic symptons

1992 jeep cherokee sport 2 door 4.0 inline six. Jeep was running fine except when you went to start it it took two cranks sometimes three then would start. Went to start it the other day and it took alot...

Sounds more like a timing problem than an O2 Sensor. Distributor out of Sync would be my guess. It ran better at Higher idles because the timing belt/chain was tight from tension at low idle the timing was off which caused your problems. Now the belt is either broken or so loose the timing is out and the vehicle won't fire. If it has a Distributor cap remove it and watch the rotor. If it turns the belt is intact but Timing may still be off.

1985 Jeep Cherokee with 2.8L manual Transmission 5speed that is having issues shifting from 2-3 and 3-2?

Try to change your transmission fluid, and if that does not work, then the clutch disc is getting worn out and needs replacement.

Take care

I always check compression at wide open throttle...I'm not happy with the two 90's but it should start.
I'm also not happy with variation in spark intensity and wonder what's going on there.
What I'd probably do at this point would be to disconnect the fuel pump harness so no fuel will pump, clear the engine of fuel in the cylinders by disabling coil and spinning the engine over with rags over the plug holes.... Make sure there are no sparks or you will have a fire.
Then, replace the plugs and re-connect coil but not pump and spray carb cleaner into intake while turning it over with the key in the on position so you can regulate the amount of fuel (cleaner) see if you can get it to start to get some heat in it. If it starts, then plug the pump back in.
If it ran before with no problems there isn't any reason it should not now unless something deteriorated.
if you still get nothing, you will need to run tests on each component using a haynes or chilton manual as a guide and a digital multi-meter. Make sure all ground connections are clean, including block ground, firewall ground and both fenders, especially any computer leads connected to ground. It won't hurt to remove each relay and just plug them back in to re-establish contact too. If you find anything strange, ask and I'll try to help with that.

Jeep turns over but will not start

I am going to assume that you didn't accidentally put DIESEL in?? If you did, siphon all you can out and add fresh GAS(!) and 3-4 bottles Octane booster.

Squirt a bit of Starting Ether in the Air CLeaner inlet
Start Jeep
Squirt Ether
Start Jeep
Start Jeep
Squirt Ether
Start Jeep
Repeat until it runs. Do not use alot of Ether - will blow engine!!!

If you didn't put Diesel in, and KNOWING that the problems are usually FIRE-related, replace all FIRE-related parts ($40.00)

Get new ROTOR (Thingy that spins inside CAP, distributes HVolts)
Get new CAP
Get new cables (change cables to new CAP 1 at a time!!!) DO NOT RUN cables neatly. Cross them over each other in looms
Get New sparkplugs (Do not overtighten. Turn to seat snugly, then 1/4 turn more
