Its almost always the relay..ther is a recall for that coling fan check with your local dealer with your vin to see if it applies to your truck... the relay is located under the right headlight under the bumper.... the best way to get to it is remove the right headlight by taking ou the long bolt on the top and then pry it free with a prybar it has three clips behind it.. once off you can see the relay inthe opening under the light area.. use a hole saw or jig saw to remove the plastic that is over it .. then you will see its held on by 2 screws 8mm and the one connector.. the relay should have a blue label on it...

Location blower motor relay 95 jeep grand cherokee laredo

easter egg hunts 101. what are the symptoms.?
did you check all fuses first/ that be , first
does it blow on high?
the book covering this (FSM) is free to read.
we dont need to cut and paste it , every time asked.
here it is.
it's in the PDC
read chapter 24 yet, HVAC
then 8w (wiring) 8w42
it's all there. and not fake books, it's real the real deal from jeep.
first off the GC has 2 type HVAC sold day 1
manual system
and automatic, ATC
they are totally different. so no one can answer you, lacking that fact.
lets now look at both (extra work)
the manual system has no relay, in the PDC, there is on inside the heater control but is not user serviceable.
does the blow work on HIGH>?????????
the ATC has a large relay. but is not in the PDC, its on the side of the HVAC per below drawings

chapter 24 cover this, why not read it first?

http://www.morris4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

page 8w -42-9 (ATC version only) 1 part of a complex system.
26147818-kvl5e4kdfcykuopgofwmpgkg-5-0.jpg
with the free book
a $10 volt meter all this is easy to diagnose.

the manual system the blower is hot. (fused F11 pdc)
the manual system the dash control, grounds the fan
on HIGH. if not on high does so through a RESISTOR block
that R is a relay but is part of the control. (buried)
so if you ground that wire below, called c7
the fan must blow, or fuse F11 is blown.
easy no? if the relay R , right coil is not 12v then that needs to be corrected, if fan blows hotwired, and R is not 0v out.

2001 Jeep Grand cherokee cooling fan runs on

Likely your fan relay internal contacts have burned closed. Relay should be either in the power distribution center or in front of the battery.

Coolant fan not turning and air conditioner blows out hot air.

Re-check the relay to make sure it's still good, then check the fan by hot wiring it to the battery. Also check the temp sensor on the engine. If the check light is on, don't drive it 'till you find out why or you can damage the engine.

You say you changed the fan relay and the thermostat? when was the last time you had the cooling system flushed? you could have a blockage in your cooling system that could be keeping the coolant from circulating..

Radiator fan not working replaced relay, temp switch and fuse fan works if hot wired it's on a 2001 jeep grand cherokee

Check the wiring from the relay to the fan motor, and check the wiring from the fuse block. Basically check all wires that supply power to the fan motor, use a volt meter. Fan Relay (behind headlight, under battery) on the 2001 GC 4.0L are a piece of ****, I change mine almost yearly. The problem is their location, a high heat area prone to the elements. I understand that 2002 and newer, the location was changed and the problem solved. Relay might close the circuit when cold or at reasonable temps, but might open a circuit when it heats up, causing the problem.

you are correct in presuming the fan motor is drawing to much current and and causing the relay to burn out problem with this thinking though i would have expected the fuse to go first as this should have a lower ampage rating than the relay and should blow first so if a new motor has been fitted check the fans grounding as if not grouned properley it will cause a resistance hence higher current flow same on the relay itself check the grounding replace the relay with a heavy duty one if you find no problem with the grounding which i think it is i would put an in-line fuse on the live feed on the fan itself as this will blow first and keep the cost of replacing relays or fan again ps check the wiring for signs of overheating yates210456

01 grand cherokee fan relay/oil pressure

I don't know if this will help anyone, but i had a issue with my jeep running hot and check engine light coming on as well. After alot of trips to different shops - the last one found that there were two senors in the engine for the fan that need to be changed. Everyone would aways fine the one up top but not the second one. After that, have not had any other problems like it since.
