SOURCE: Car will not start right away...makes awful noise

It looks like you have an issue with the starter not engaging the flywheel correctly. Does it make a BrrrrRRRRRRRRRRP noise? Best advice: Replace the starter. Do not get it rebuilt. If you replace the starter ASAP, you may be OK. If not, you are going to have to have the transmission pulled, and you will have to replace the flywheel; that is what is being damaged by the bad starter drive. This is, unfortunately, a common issue.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for advice!

A FixYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be most appreciated, this is how we are scored. Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: car won't start and makes a ticking noise

CHECK IF TURN SIGNALS WORK, USUALLY ON GM CARS IF A BULB IS BURNED IT WILL TICK FASTER, IT IS AN INDUCATION OF BURNT BULB - COULD BE FRONT OR REAR

SOURCE: 2004 Saab 93: A/C doesnt turn off, car now wont start

remove the AC relay to shut the AC off all the time. Not sure why it wont start but you may havea security lockout. Fully charge the battery to proceed.

If the noise is just a spinning sound and not a grinding, than you're starter solinoid is probably bad.
You're best bet is to replace the starter. Hope this helps.

How to install starter on 1985 saab 900 tubo

The procedure for removal and installation of a starter depends on whether your Saab is a manual or automatic. If you need a more detailed explanation let me know and I will either post it or can email it to you. It seems the Saab engineers couldn't of made it harder for a DIYer. Good luck!
Remove the Black clutch cover on the manual & half cover on the auto
Remove the Red battery cable on the Battery
Remove the Red battery cable on the Starter
Remove the yellow wire from the starter solenoid
Loosen the brace to the bottom of the intake manifold
Remove the bolts or nuts from the starter through the front timing cover

1987 Saab, battery problems or my own error?

If some internal light "went out" but the switch is still "on", that might do it.
Something could be shorted. Check power seats' wiring. Radio.

9000 won't start!

Sounds like a crank sensor. They can drive you mad. If you hear a clicking sound when you try to start it, that is the battery. But if you turn the key it starts, you drive some place turn off the car for 5 minutes and then try to restart it, and it does nothing at all, that is a classic crank sensor.
