Exhaust originates in the cylinder....pull the spark plugs to see if one or more are covered with oil confirming the source.

Your compression is low, the rings in the piston engine are worn out , you will need an engine overhaul , probably you have low power also .And blue smoke to boot ..

Testimonial: "Dangit, thats what I thought. Just bought it. pretty much all stock. It was pulled behind an rv for a while. It has a webber carb on it, which needs to be adjusted a tad. It came factory set and they didnt mess with it any. They said it only has 49x on it. Course it could have rolled over 2x too. I did notice it had a blue sealant around head. They guy said it hasn't had any work done to it. but it looks to me like its been rebuilt. so, pretty much you think I need to give it a rebuild?"

Look on the transmission near the bell housing, this is where the speedometer cable connects to the transmission. Loosen the nut and pull the end out. Turn it manually by hand to see if it is turning and inspect it for damage. This is usually the spot where the cable breaks. You may find it loose and stuck in the transmission when you remove the cable. You can take the broken end out with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Please remember to rate this fix.

The shifter sheet is worn out or not even there (its rubber) from multiple uses. It eventually decades.

Tons of Samurai enthusiast retailers carry them. Lowrangeoffroad, Petroworks, Trail Tough, and more.

They also carry the one for the tranny shifter.

You can try using some heat to free up the corrosion around seam. Or a penetrating oil and let soak for some time

I have an 88 suzuki samurai, the headlights will only come on when i put the high beams on. no low beam at all, the running lights come on. :-)

the relay for the low beams is bad, replace it and you should be good to go... you could also test it by switching it with the high beam relay, just to make sure

I have a 1987 suzuki samurai and have white smoke coming from exhaust looked on dipstik and see no signs of antifreeze was told that it could be the timing belt cover leaking that doesent make sense to me...

Are you losing coolant? If so then you could have a cracked head on the exhaust side and it is leaking coolant into the exhaust and being burnt.

There are tons of choices but each one needs fabricating work. Only the stock seats will bolt down directly.
