Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

While driving the car squeels as i turn the wheel, it will make more noise when going left rather than right. open the hood and it sounds like the noise is coming from in or around the PS pump. However when i jack up the car and keep the front right wheel off the ground and turn the car on and turn the wheel there is very little noise. and yes there is PS fluid in the pump, it is leeking but very very very slowly.

Replace all PS Pump fluid with synthetic oil fluid and add a stop leak to system , probably you have extreme cavitation in old fluid .

SOURCE: very loud "rubbing " sound when driving only

you did damage to the wheel bearing i bet it sounds like a airplane sound. also if you steering wheel is off 7"then have front end aligned because this will destroy the tires and they will make noise.

Ford taurus 1994 rattling sound front engine compartment

Place the car on blocks or jack stands so the car can be driven without it going anywhere. Have someone turn the front wheels left, straight, then right while depressing the gas pedal so the tires are turning at 5 miles per hour and listen for location of noise.Have the hood open so that you can listen for that noise that you say the car motor is making.

2005 F-150 sounds like front wheel bearing is bad. turn to the left and sound is bad. turn to the right and no noise

Looks like it's time for a right wheel bearing, or however many there are in the hub. I'm assuming you do not have a 4 wheel drive. Remember, if it makes noise when turning left, you are "loading" the right wheel bearing. ( Shifting more weight to the side inside your turn). Think this way. When turning left at a higher speed, the left tire might even come up off the ground! That puts all the weight on the right. If you've 4 wheel drive, could also be c.v. joints, or universal joints.

The car makes a howling noise while driving it

well did the noise start after the tires were rotated?could be choppy tires,,,if not ,i strongly think it sounds like a bad wheel bearing,,,,if you drive and while its making the noise turn left and right quick and see if the noise gets louder and which way turning makes it louder,,if you turn leftand it gets louder its usually the right wheels bearing as you are putting load on it, if it makes the noise louder while turning right its the left wheel bearing,,,got it

I may need to replace the front wheel bearing. There is a squeeling sound coming from the front right side of the car.

Normally a squeeling noise coming from the front wheel area would be the front brake disk pads getting too low. Normally when wheel bearings start to fail the noise they produce is more consistant which a growl noise.
