Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

3 Answers

2000 blazer runs rough and dies when gas pedal pushed to floor.

Blazer was running fine then when on the highway the engine sputtered and had to pump the gas pedal to get a couple blocks off the highway. Car would start then die after running rough for a couple min. Replaces IAC, PCV and cleaned the EGR. Would run but when I pump the gas the engine will start to die unless I let off the gas pedal.

I agree with Peter on this one. Sounds like low fuel pressure. First thing is to be sure that you have around 55-60 psi when you turn the key on and running should be around 55. If the pressure drops much below these no.'s the fuel pump may need to be changed. Don't forget to check and/or change the fuel filter also.

When I hooked up the pressure guage It did not even move the needle. Does this in itself mean the pump is bad?

Sounds like you need to change your fuel filter or you may need a new fuel pump relay

I replaced the fuel pump and filter 9 months ago and the TPS about a year ago.

Replaced the fuel fiter and the relay, but no change. One thing that I noticed is the when I took the air intake off the engine almost died and got real rough. Any suggestions before I give up and just replace the fuel pump? It is atleast under warranty.

you need to replace the fuel pressure regualtor underneath the plenum , ck fuel pressure if it drops suddenly after you shut the engine down suspect fuel regualtor , use to have to replace the whole spider assembly now i think you can just replace the regulator

SOURCE: 2000 blazer runs rough after gas tank was overfilled

there is a vapour purge line from the tank to a charcoal cannister. The line& cannister has been contaminated with liquid gas. When the engine attempts a normal purge from cannister it gets loaded with raw gas, causing rough running and cherck engine light. Replace cannister. Never over fill gas tank, especially on hot sunny days

Fix rough idle and stalling on 1986 S10 blazer.only keeps running if pumping gas pedal. was running good and all of a sudden started dying out.

I would start by changing the fuel filter. Run some injector cleaner through it. And check for more of those rotten lines. You can check by spraying a little starting fluid around the vacuum lines. Be careful though. Its flammable. But the engine should speed up if you have a leak.

Power booster is bad, or you didn't bench bleed the master good and it still has air in it.

2000 Blazer Will not stay running

Wow, you seemed to have changed what I would have recommended to someone in your shoes.

If the fuel pump relay is hot, I think that there could be a crossed wire somewhere.

I would take it to an auto electric shop to diagnose problem if it's worth putting more money into it.
