Lossing spark signal between the icm and stater

Under the rotor cap is a object with 6 evenly spaced points that rotates in front of a magnetic pickup. Remove the magnetic pickup and connect a ohm meter to the two leads and heat it up with a hair dryer or better a heat gun used for heat shrink tubing. I have seen many magnetic pickup failures. Cold engine will run fine, engine reaches operating temperature and the magnetic pickup will go open circuit.

I hope this helps you!

Awhere is #1 located on the distrbuter cap? for a 1985 Chevy S10 pick up

The S-10 pick up came with 3 different engines for that year. a 1.9, 2.5 and a 2.8. Here is what I have and I hope it helps. good luck. the engine size is the little tiny writing next to the diagram incase you don't see it at first. Kinda small.

No power in cab of truck no lights work

Check harness with test light over on drives side under hood, you'll see a few connector that go into the fire wall, check at connector at both ends of plug for voltage, also check for fuse links at stater solenoid.
