You can also turn the key to start the car letting it return to "on" position leave 10 min or until security light goes off... turn off ignition for min of 5-7 seconds.. turn key to start again letting it return to "on" wait until light goes off again... repeat process waiting 5-7 seconds in the off position each time.. Eventually the car will start Take 45min to 1 hr. basically the shop will do the same thing and charge you for it ..

You can try closing all the doors, then locking drivers door using the key...then unlock. Depending upon what system you have, this often works!

You can reset it by disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes and reconnecting it. This will turn off the engine light and reset the adaptive memory.

SOURCE: need to reset computer to start car or it won't start.

to reset the computer just take off a terminal on your car battery for 15 minutes, this will reset the system, if you have a standard stereo you need to remember or know the code incase it locks you out and asks you for one after.

How do I Disable anti theft system in 2002 Chevy Venture that wont start

Check the wires good, that go to starter. And the starter solenoid. Clean and tighten all starter wires. By by passing, and starting it direct tells me that there has to be a problem, in wires or ignition system. see if you have power to starter by testing the wire. Sounds like no click on start=no power to starter.

My 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan will not start, following some stalling issues. A couple of years ago, at around 100k miles, the check engine light came on and stayed that way; my mechanic told me it was a...

I disconnected the + wire from the battery terminal and left it for a couple of days to reset the computer, That's not going to do anything . You never ever disconnect the positive cable untill the negative cable is disconnected first . An disconnecting for 1/2 hour would be enough .
my mechanic told me it was a glitch in the computer, If the check engine light is on there is a DTC - diagnostic trouble code . You need to find yourself a new mechanic .
If nothing happens when you turn the key to the start position U need to find out if anti-theft system can disable the starter circuit .If not check battery condition ,connections an cables doing a starter circuit voltage drop test . Also your vehicle has integrated power module , google that one . There is a starter motor relay in the under hood fuse box , do you know what a relay is ? If you find it , pull it out an look on the bottom , you will see four sets of numbers . 30 &87 .these are the load side (starter ) if you jumped those together with a paper clip or piece of wire . if the starter is good an the cables an connections are good the starter will spin the engine over . Pins 85 & 86 are the control of the relay circuit . 86 should have B+ voltage when trying to start the vehicle , 85 is from the PCM - engine computer . The PCM will ground this circuit internally , if it see's that the transmission is in park or neutral an if thier is no anti-theft system problems .

My 2006 Cadillac STS won"t start, the display panel is saying, "Theft alarm system, starter disabled". what could of triggered this?

most of the time it occurs after replacing a battery but if this occurred out of the blue then something like the transponder has failed

you'll need a professional scan tool and about an hour to diagnose the concern

then when fixed, you'll need another 30 minutes to reprogram the computers and keys

INSTRUMENT PANEL SAYING "STARTER DISABLED", CAR WON'T START... HELP!!! PLEASE

Please check all your fuses and relays (in the hood and on the driver panel).

For there not to be a major mechanical/ electrical problem, the starter has been disabled for safety measures.

It only confirms that you have a safety measured car.

Good luck.

My cherokee sport cranks real slow and wont start

Check battery voltage should be 12v or better with motor off. start engine read voltage again should be 12.9 or better and then turn all accessories on...voltage should be same or slight y less but best would be at least 13v let it idle and volts should not creep downward..
Volts should never be below 12 and never at 14 except for a brief time after startup. Turn engine off and disable ignition system, then check across battery while craqnking. Volts should not go below 9.5. If so, have batt charged and load tested. If good, replace starter. No valid electrical computer testing can be done without a fully charged battery.

1999 bmw 528 won't start

yeh go back to Kragen and say are you taking the ****, reset button who told you that. it must be next to the kerfuffle valve. and operated by the **** behind the peddle. or the nut behind the wheel. how to start a car lesson one. heavy duty Power to the starter, and a good chassis earth generally through the engine block. a good charge in the battery. and a switched live to the low tension circuit on the solenoid of the starter motor via ignition switch/key. if all those are fine it should work.......

Starter will not turn over until the batt. cable is disconnected

Sounds to me like there is a short in the starting system that is causing this (or it's wired wrong). Ford starter solenoids are known for problems. The reason the starter will turn after the cable is disconnected is because the circuit (or in this case short circuit) has been broken . I'll bet if you replace the starter solenoid, your problem will be solved. I think it's just "shorting-to-ground". Good Luck!
