Question about 2001 Cadillac Catera
The fuel cap light keeps blinking periodically but the car isn't running any different as if its losing power or shutting off, im not sure why it starts doin that even after i tighten the cap an recently replaced it aswell.. any suggestions ??
Check vacuum lines to purge valve and canister. charcoal may of broke loose and fouled your purge valve.

Was the car still running when you got up? If not, then the battery went dead. This may have been the last hurray for the battery. Remove the battery cables and clean them. Fully charge the battery with a charger and if it still will not start the engine, remove the battery and have it tested.

I'm having the same problem with my 2006 Escalade; replaced the gas cap for $40 and a week later still having the same issue.....

Did you change the in line fuel filter? It may have sediment in it that will settle out and allow some fuel to flow. As the fuel flows the sediment travels to the outlet part of the filter blocking fuel flow.
