SRS (airbag) light needs to be reset by dealer or a really good specialty shop. It's a safety issue. Keep in mind if light comes back on you DO have a problem with your SRS and it needs to be addressed.
SRS sensors are located under hood in engine compartment. They're bright orange/red and are cylindrical in shape. If your SRS lights are on, you need a special reset tool (very expensive tool) to reset. Any good shop including body shops have SRS reset tools and can reset your lights.
Unfortunately, it's going to need to go to a dealer, or an approved Volvo shop that has the proper computer to reset it.
If you have a friendly local shop around you who's approved and capable, they will probably do it for next to nothing.
sounds like a bad alternator. as an alternator puts out improper voltages, it can cause warning lights to come on, as the system voltage being too low will not allow the computer to run its self tests within their programmed parameters.
According to the manual, that warning light will illuminate if a fault is detected. Normally, the SRS warning lamp should light up when the ignition key is turned to positions I, II or III and should go out after 7 seconds or when the engine is started.
· If the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) warning light stays on after the engine has started or if it comes on while you are driving, drive the car to the nearest authorized Volvo retailer for inspection as soon as possible.
This is a known problem although Volvo will not admit it. The dash needs to come out (10 min job) and sent away for a simple repair. Total cost is about £150 but you will need to get the SRS warning that will be showing in the LED message display cancelled by a Volvo dealer after the dash has come back. Don't try a scrapyard dashboard the ECUs have IP addresses. I used a company in Kent to do the repair. Get onto Google there may be a repairer more local.
