SOURCE: how to change fuel pump in 2001 pontiac grand prix

In the trunk behind the seat, pull back the carpet. there is an access panel in floor. take that off, and you have direct access to the pump assembly, disconect the three hoses and the pigtail, take off the lock ring and pull it strait up. you can only buy the whole assembly so its just swapping them out and putting everything back together.

You shouldn't need to change the fuel pump, but I would have it examined by a mechanic to determine whether or not the diesel has messed up your fuel pump.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would check for fuel at the test port on the fuel rail. Also check for spark at the plugs. You could have a bad fuel pump or igntion control module.

Check the fuel pump inline resistor located on the right side front fender between the frame and the windshield washer fluid canister. When this resistor goes bad those are the symptoms.
