Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

The water pump went out in my 2006 dodge durango! I was driving and the voltage light came on and then my temp light came on and I pulled off the next exit. The car died and over heated! I had the car towed and replaced the water pump! Now the car won't start! What else could be wrong?

SOURCE: Replaced the thermostat and water pump in my 1998

Check the two hoses going to the heater core.
They will be in the engine compartment on the passenger side fire wall.
Touch both hoses. There should be only about 15 deg. difference between the two of them
If one is hot and the other is cool then the heater core has failed and needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps give feedback thank you FixYa.

Check for spark. If there is none take a peak at your work. The crank sensor is in that area and it is possible you damaged it when you replaced the water pump. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

No heat coming from the vents.

If it is a manual system--sounds like coolant low ie: air bubble in system. If it is ATC system, Check Codes, if no failure codes, coolant may be low--air bubble in system--most Durango's have air bleeders in system.

Have you checked the temperature sending unit? It reads the temp of your engine and sends the information to the engine to open or close thermostat. If it is not functioning properly it may not be having the thermostat open. Leading to overheating. I hope I could be of some help to you.
