SOURCE: Mini Cooper P1689 code

P1689 - No communication between ECM & Injection Pump Module. This is why it's a hard start and the peddle isn't acting like it should. There's a problem where the (Computer) ECM, isn't making contact with the Injection Pump module. So the computer doesn't know what the pump is doing or sending. Could be a cut in the wires, corrosion, etc.. So many things it could be, fuel pressure is low.

What is the difference between a r50 and r53 mini

R50 is the designation that BMW use for the hardtop (i.e. not the convertible) hatchback version of the Mini One and Mini Cooper produced from 2001-2006, and including the special edition versions called 'Mini Seven' and 'Park Lane', and also the Mini One D (the diesel version) from 2004-2006.
R53 is the designation used for the Mini Cooper S (a supercharged version with 170 bhp) from 2002-2006, and also the special edition versions which were called the 'MC40' (2004), 'Cooper S works' (2005 on), the 'Mini GP' (2006) and the 'Cooper S checkmate' (2006)

A red light appeared on my dash board which has an exclamation mark (!) somthing like that... Can you advise what this means? My car is a 2004 mini cooper.

Red circle with an exclamation mark in it - usually it is a braking system warning.

Possible causes:

1. low brake fluid level in master cylinder
2. pads at wear limit
3. handbrake still thinks its on - there's a switch under the cover that gets operated when the handbrake is pulled up, could be sticking.

BMW mini 2002 model low beam fault

Check your connections and make sure the sockets are clean. If that doesn't work, looking into the Ballast (High Voltage, be careful) to see if that's the fault.
