SOURCE: need to change glow plugs on a mercedes C220D 1998

dont bother too much with thebullshit recipe .mercedesbenz were built in a cold country and have the cold start tecnique off pat .you need to establish if all the glow plugs are working .,if the engine misses and runs rough when it does start then the glow plugs are not all working but you need to test them with a test light and i would be inclined to think you will need to replace them. do them all as the ones that do work will stop soon.they all seem to go around the same time------------"youdoit "

SOURCE: mercedes class 200 cdi. when

This is normal, the glow plugs are building heat in the cylinders to help ignite the diesel. They should cycle off and on until the engine warms up.

Diesel I presume. Does it "turn over" but not start? What does exhaust look like when if it does turn over? If white smoke, you have bad compression. Otherwise, all critical systems are Fuel filter. Glow plug system and their timer. Sometimes cycling of the glow plug system in very cold weather may help. If the solenoid engages, but starter will not turn the motor, you may have enough power based on other devices. But it does not necessarily mean there is enough capacity to supply the starter to turn the engine. If the engine turns, Starting fluid may help. But if it does not continue to run, there is definately a fuel supply system problem.

2004fordtaurus3.0 engine runs rough in cold weather when started. like today in new york 13degee

You know what...there's nothing wrong with your engine...When metal is cold...it contracts...thus causing more friction between moving parts...this is why your motor runs rough in cold weather...I'm gonna give you a crazy suggestion...Have you heard of a "Block Heater"...it is a heated dip stick that you place in your engine overnight..
this device keeps your oil at operating temp overnight...so when you start your car....the block is warm...and the oil flows like magic..just pull out your dipstick...insert the block heater...and rest easy...of course...it has to plugged into a 110 volt outlet...You can find these online by Googleing it or go to www.yourautonetwork.com...Give it a try and let me know....I hope this was helpful....PEACE.....

Glow plug for diesels

year model? Engine size? I need a little more information than ford won't start when cold. I would guess either the glow plug relay or the actual glow plugs themselves are bad, but usually the glow plug relay, because if it were just one or two glow plugs it would start, but run like ****.

i think you have a water leak maybe the head gasket is going bad any way gasoline produces water and is normal with cold weather.

My1999 f250 won't start in cold weather unless block heater is plugged in. Even after just sittting for a couple of hours in the cold it takes 9 to 16 rounds of glowplug warmings to start and usually dies...

3-4 years is a long time to run on glow plugs, reason why smokes so bad is you have all that raw fuel from trying to start. Glow plugs have failed, it only takes a few to screw up. but check power to plugs for proper ampherage

Ford 03 6.0L Excursion wont start when cold

You need to start with your glow plug circuit. There is a glow plug module that is the most likely culprit. You need to get a circuit tester and when the another person turns the key, you verify whether or not you have voltage to glow plug on the engine itself. If not the control module will have to be replaced. The glow plug control module is on the right hand side and front of the engine. Let me know what else you may need.

We think it is the diesel injection pump but not sure

Sounds like not all the glow plugs are working. It should run fairly smooth on a cold start if all of the glow plugs are working..Also you shouldn't drive off on a cold start with a diesel,Its really hard on the motors..At least give them 10 to 15 min on a cold start..The oil in them is a really thick oil and when there drove on a cold start theres no oil lubricating the internal parts and will cause the motor to seize up..You may already no this and dont mean you drive it as soon as you start it i just wanted to let you know..When you get alot of white smoke it could be two things,Theres water in the fuel which will make it not have much power die and smoke..But if it runs fine when its warm theres some bad glow plugs...Hope this helps you and have a great day

AUDI A4.24 SLIGHT VEHICLE VIBRATION

If your engine is not misfiring but it vibrates too much while idling your motor mounts might be getting worn out. I had a Nissan with bad motor mounts. I was ok in park but when you put it in gear it vibrated a lot. It smoothed right out as soon as you started moving.
