Depends on which circiuts..220 or 110..most are 110 and you have a black(hot) wire(load) a white wire Neutral/ ground.. and a bare copper earth ground that goes to the fixtures ground stud.. 220 units require 2 hot wires and a neutral wire and an earth ground.. repost which you are doing..

Side light fault

The light may be the problem, of you might have gotten a faulty one, I have. Before you take it out and exchange it though, check all your fuses, and wire connections in the light housing. A frayed wire, wire connector or a ground wire coming lose would also do it. To find the ground, just look for a single black wire (sometimes green) screwed to a metal surface. They're usually close to the power wires. And if you're going to have the light housing open anyway, maybe try the old bulb again as well as a different new one. Hope I helped. Grimm

Replaced map light housing and now the map and dome lights stay on while driving

how did these lights come on before, did you have to manually switch them no the housing or did they come on by opening the car doors. It looks like you may have a problem with the switch configurations and wiring connections to the new light housing

Replace 2004 Crown Victoria headlight

From the engine compartment, unlock the 3 tabs that are over the headlight housing area. Remove the cover and unscrew the plastic ring that has the wires protruding from it. Carefully pulls the light fixture out of the housing. Pull the 2 L-shaped tabs up and remove the lens section. Reverse the steps to re-install the headlight. If replacing the full turn signal housing, unscrew 2 screws from each light , disconnect bulb wiring and remove. Replace accordingly.

Brake light switch fuse keeps blowing

Hi .. First I would remove the lamps, and try the brakes, then try again with the wiring harness disconnected from the housing, to see if you can isolate the problem to the lamps, the housing, or the wiring. If it is the wiring , then you will have to trace the harness back toward the front of the car looking for any place where the insulation on the wire has been damaged .

2001 Jeep Cherokee the left side park lights will not come on but blinkers and brake lights work. Any ideas would be awesome.

I had that problem with my jeep, it is usually the entire housing that needs to be replaced. My jeep had a few loose wires loose in the rear light housing. If you want to reattach the wires there is a 50/50 chance of either getting it right or completely killing all lights on that side. I would suggest just having the entire housing replaced which should run you around 150, but you can install it your self. Very easy.

Replacement of driving light bulb

open the hood, find the light housing, a round black can looking device, press the release tab and rotate the curved plastic arm upwards. this will release the housing and pull the whole housing forward out of the car. It will still be attached to the car with a wire. Open the back cover over the bulb, disconnect the wiring plug and undo the spring clip. Pull the bulb out and when replacing the bulb do not touch the bulb with your skin. It will burn out quickly with skin oil on it.
To install housing, place it so that all three rails or guides line up and gently slide in. You will have to jiggle and wiggle the housing and the locking lever. When nearly fully installed slide the locking lever down to lock headlight housing in place.
