You have a short somewhere im your wireing i would start with any groung that you may have made when u did your rigging and then go through all your wires and make sure none of them are wore down and touching any metal

SOURCE: replaced alternator and battery is good but not charging

I found the problem YEAH. It was the fuse that is in the side of the fuse box under the hood, Its where the battery wire from the alternator connects thru a fuse to go to the battery, Its one hundred and something volt fuse. It took care of the problem instantly.... Thank you all for your replies...

SOURCE: 2001 ford focus will not start. The engine will

I will try to help you. You are correct about the starting fluid, if it has fire starting fluid should do something. So the problem must be either no fire to the plugs or the timing belt is broke.

Check to see if the plugs have spark. If they do not, then get with the Autoparts store and ask if your car needs a Ignition relay to run. Then ask if your car takes a rubber timing belt. If your car does not have a rubber timing belt try the Ignition relay. If you do have a rubber belt check behind the shield in front of the engine to see if the timing belt is broke.

The timing belt is different than the serpetine belt that drives the pulleys. Cars with rubber timing belts have both belts. Should your timing belt be broken it is not an expensive repair. But you will need to details on replacement of that part.

SOURCE: My battery keep dying and won't hold a charge.

I have the same exact problem. First thing I did was replace the battery. Still having problem. Alternator charges then, an hour later the battery is dead. I was at a stoplight and suddenly the air amd radio quit for a couple of seconds, the volt meter hit bottom, then kicked back in and everything worked again. Turned the car off, started it back up. Parked, went inside, came back out, battery dead. New battrery, Good alternator, could it be the regulator shorting out? do they have regulators anymore?

Interior eletricals all gone off in a manual van eg including horn. will it be battery or fuses? we havent turned off the van

just re-charge the battery and then establish what it was, no other way round.

if you did not start engine for a while, battery is most probably flat and may even need to be changed to new one. try re-charge first...

I have a 99 chevy astro van and the brown voltage regulator wire has no power even with the ignition on where does it go to and is there a fuse or relay to check?

check van is charging first ,start engine and remove a battery terminal ,if it keeps running its charging so ignore the wire ,the voltage regulator is built into the alternator as all one unit so i think you are confusing yourself

Van will not turn over or do anything when key is turned battery is fully charged

If you have lights and all but nothing when the key is turned, I would say the ignition switch located at the bottom of the steering column is bad or just out of adjustment. Loosen the 2 screws that mount it to the column and move it up or down to see if anything changes.

2001 ford windstar battery being drained and i dont know why

I had this problem. i thought it was a parasitic drain but...
check your charging system. with the van running, check the voltage output accross the battery terminals. if its less than 14.1 check the inline fuse for the alternator (close to the alternator) if ok, replace the voltage regulator inside the alternator.

if the charging system is putting out 14+ volts then you need to start pulling fuses while van is off while monitoring the current draw between the positive battery post and the positive terminal clamp watching for a current drop. keep in mind the windstar will drain alot of current while off for the first 2 mins er so, then it will drop again in about 15 mins... time delay shutdown on several systems :)

Not charging after trying the remote starter

under the dash there will be 2 red wires going into the remote start unit, there will also be 1 fuse on each red wire, remove the fuses and your remote starter will be disabled, then you can eliminate any isusses with it

Shift lever on column came loose inside column.

no, u shouldn't have to pull the steering wheel. pull the cover off the column, there are 2 or 4 nuts that hold the column up to the dash, remove them and let the column lay on the seat- u should disconnect your battery before doing so. you can get to the shift tube from there- most likely u'll find that the bushings have gone bad and need replacement.

Turn signal flasher keeps blowing

This is more than likely caused by a Bad Turn Signal Switch Housing inside the Sterring column. The one that the Handle is attached to and Wraps around the Sterring Shaft on the Inside of the Column.

Solar battery charger

Yes, but the efficiency of solar cells is terrible. Its one thing to use free sunlught to charge the cells, its another to have to pay the electric company to do it. If you can access the batteries in the solar rig easily and they are in the correct voltage range, I think you would be better off getting a battery tender (trickle charger). Just let the van sit outside until the batteries are fully charged, then connect the battery tender to keep it fully charged.
