Heat the column with a hot air blowdryer like the girls use but not to the point where it melts anything(plastic mainly)and apply heat to the bottom of the steering column right by the dashboard base.. this heat may warm up the litium grease that is in both the key unit and the atual switch .. this will take a few minutes on both so be patient with it..then later. spray wd40 into the key area just enough for a couple of drops to come back out(short spurts) and try that.. repost findings..thnx

Frozen radiator and possible frozen engine

depending on the temperature, blankets can work but you will need a few of them as its frozen up. also the engine could be damaged any way as ice expands and can crack the seals and the head and crank case. if the oil has frozen the temp has been well down to low, wind chill can contribute to even colder temperatures.

Hi 1999 grand cherokee laredo ignition wont turn off,

Get a hammer and punch. Tap on punch next to key while turning key. This will free up frozen tumblers in ignition

I put the key in and it wont turn its frozen.

I had the same problem, turned out it was worn ignition switch tumbler pins. Try turning the key while tapping on top of the switch with a rubber mallet or sneaker. If it frees up, you need to remove the keyswitch and take it to a locksmith to have the pins replaced. Much cheaper than a new ignition switch.

My ignition switch is either locked or frozen? key won't turn, steer wheel won't move, and gear shift want move

The key/ignition switch needs to be replaced. Very common in newer GM vehicles. The key either wont turn, wont go in, or the key wont release from the tumbler. Check with a local Chevy dealer to see if there has been a recall issued for this. But you will need to have it serviced regardless.

1995 ford aspire with frozen ignition

Try turning the steering wheel with one hand and turn the key with the other. Sometimes when the column locks it keeps pressure on the lock cylinder and you have to relieve the pressure by turning the wheel to take the pressure off.

99 Cavalier driver door wont close when cold

In my case the latch mechanism was frozen. The best bet for that is to allow it to be heated; hair dryer or something then put WD40 or something on it until i get a new one
