Gas smell

I had a similar problem with a 2000 Kia Sportage. The check engine light came on all the time. Part of the problem seemed to be the fuel cap having high pressure. Then one fine day I smelled gas fumes from the rear of the vehicle. After removing the fuel pump cover in the rear behind the seats, I found gas coming from a hose from the tank. I then (sometime later) I found a crack in another hose. The hose was from the filler neck. It caused a lack of vapor pressure and a smell. The check engine light now was off.

Engine cuts in and out

Hello, I would suggest looking at the fuel pressure on your fuel rail to check if the fuel pump is working properly. Sounds like a bad fuel pump. Also check your fuel pressure regulator.

Where is the schroeder valve on a 2000 kia sportage

Id start by looking on the INTAKE manifold for 4 fuel injectors. They are connected by a commone pipe or tube called a fuel rail. Its typically located at one end or the other of this fuel rail. Hope this helps.

How the heck to check fuel pressure on a 2002 Kia sportage?

Some cars don't have them. You have to break into the fuel line somewhere and tee it off for your pressure tester. Usually at the gas filter is a handy place.
Some adaptation may be necessary (Toyotas need a drilled out banjo bolt, for example). Don't give up!

You need to have the vent valve check at the dealer,it's not letting the fuel go in because of the pressure trying to get out, since the vent valve is not working

Fuel delivery problem - 2000 Kia Sportage 2WD - fuel not reaching fuel filter, pump is working, relays by fuses are ok, other fuses ok. looking for colored wiring diagrams

If the pump is running but not putting out any fuel the strainer in the tank could be clogged causing it not to pick up fuel. Also check the fuel pressure regulator and make sure it is working correctly.
