2003 VW 1.8T transmission - Jetta Volkswagen Cars & Trucks

Sorry... I\'m new here. Thought I was searching questions and didn\'t know I was posting one. I\'m thinking of buying a 2003 VW Jetta 1.8T with automatic transmission. The car drives fine in forward gears but reverse isn\'t working. Car is in great condition. I\'m looking for solutions to fix the tranny if I purchase it. It would be just a project car, as the seller only wants $2000 for it. It has 148k miles on it. Any ideas if this is a solenoid or maybe just low on fluid? Or something else?

Where can I locate the transmission fluid level on my 2003 jetta 2.0L gas

There is a small allen head plug on the bottom of transmission (6 mm). This where you you check the fluid .The transmission has to be at least 130 f and the engine idling in park on level ground.Fluid should drip from the hole if trans is full and you must use the factory vw fluid ( @ 25.00 quart) to fill. There is a 10 mm allen head plug on the top of transmission near the linkage that is the fill point.Good luck. These plugs strip out very easily , use the correct size and a high quality tool.

chances are the spring that opens the flap is weak, just replace the spring.if it gets stuck shut pull away the carpet/trim from inside the trunk to get to the flap wire.

Transmission fluid

Check stik should be on left side of engine. Remove and check. You will need a long spout to add fluid. .

I need to know where is the dip stick to check the transmission fluid on a 2003 vw passat

There is no automatic transmission dip stick on your car. There is a long procedure to check and fill and you will need special fluid from VW. Better left to the dealer. If you want the procedure let me know.

Transmission fluid check on a vw jetta tdi

Never ever bring a jetta to a volkwagen dealer. They will bend you over and rape you.

All you have to do is remove the top plug with a hex wrench.
