1992 SE maxima jerking, sputtering, stalling

I have a 92 Maxima SE automatic with 180k miles; in the last year it has started sputtering jerking and stalling during accelleration. all the injectors have been replaced over the last 40k miles, new fuel filter and air filter. There are no engine lights associated with the issue, nor is it giving a code. when it stalls the throttle will drop to idle rpms and will not respond; as well it stalls at any speed. when not in drive it will idle correctly and can be reved up with no issues. the problem is also more persistant when shifting between gears, on hills and when turning corners.

you have to start in 2nd then put it in drive, it also dies some times, revese doesnt work. I think the linkage is loose theres wires hanging from where i think the transmission is. I just got the car back from a friend

I have a 90 max. and have the very same sputtering problem and the same issue of having to drop it into 2nd then just bump it up into drive for it to drop into 1st. The trans was rebuilt at 211k and it is now at 218 . I just got the car and it was already doing that. I tuned it upwith new dist.cap. new button, new wires and plugs. fuel filter and air filter. problem still persist. it almost seems the warmer the engine gets the worse it gets as far as the sputtering goes but no idiot lights.

I have a 92, 5 speed Maxima, with 98K. At no particular time or circumstance it stalls. It has nearly killed me or at the least, caused a serious accident. How can I fix this for I love the car otherwise.

I had a similar problem and resolved it by replacing the mass airflow sensor. Ive got 235k+ miles on my 1992 Maxima SE.
Still runs good but having problems with the alarm system.

92 maxima jerking an sputtering does not stall what could this be

It could be one or a combination of a few things. 1.) There could be moisture in the gas. 2.) A bad fuel filter. 3.) If you seem to lose power as you're driving, it could be your converter. I would check the fuel filter first.

My 92 maxima se just died as i was driving it.i put gas in it and it ran for 2 miles then died again

could be a fuel pump. hammer on the gas tank and see if it tries to start. if not then spray carb cleaner or starting fluid into the air intake and see if it starts and runs for a few seconds if so your looking at a bad fuel pump most likely.

92 nissan maxima does it have a timing chain or timing belt?

There were 2 engines used. The VG30E(GXE version) and the VE30DE(on the 92-94 SE versions). The VG30E has a timing belt and the VE30DE has a timing chain.

Just bought a 92 maxima se and it slightly clunks from 1st to 2nd it's automatic any ideas

I'd start with a fluid & filter change just in case that's all that's needed. Who knows when & if that has ever been done, and it's real good, least expensive way to start.

My 1992 Nissan Maxima is sputtering upon acceleration. It has 220,000 miles on it and it seems to mainly have this problem in first gear. And mostly happens shortly after starting the car. Ive done a basic...

92 max
I own a 92 max 370 kms runs good but one day just cuts out while doing about 30 km, I pull over i can start it no problem but when I touch the pedal to accelerate the car stalls out.

It got worse to the point of sputtering on the highway , sometimes i could keep it alive by working the pedal but others would slow down and stall out.

I have changed the fuel filter and plugs seemed to make it a bit better but still stalling. I ran it in my driveway for 10 mins on idle then it stalls out

Is this the fuel pump??
