The warning light is telling the driver the computer has a problem with a sensor or component that could affect performance and emissions.
You need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed with troubleshooting.

There are over 2000 different trouble codes that can store with your check engine light. Probably 30-50 of them (or sequences of them) can trigger limp-mode or safe-drive mode on most vehicles. In your case, I would strongly suspect a problem with the electronic throttle control assembly. For safety, vehicles with electronic throttle frequently limit speed and rpm to very low numbers when a fault is detected to prevent runaway accelerations and high speed collisions. Have it checked by a professional. It may be as simple as a sensor on your accelerator pedal, or the throttle assembly itself could be starting to fail. In either case, it shouldnt be played with unless you have the proper diagnostic equipment (a Tech-2 Scantool) and good repair data.

NOTE: Clearing the code with a generic tool or disconnecting the battery MAY allow the car to reset, and if the problem is intermittant, it may become normally drivable till the next time thr problem occurs. HOWEVER...the technician who fixes the car really should have access to the original failure information stored in the freezeframe snapshot the computer took when it set the code. If you reset the light or disconnect the battery, that info will be erased and make make diagnosis and repair much much more difficult.

I would replace number 6 injector or have it reconditioned. There is dirt in the nozzle of the injector that causes this problem. No injector cleaner will clean dirt rust from the fuel tank, if that has entered them.

A blinking or flashing check engine light indicate misfiring. I suggest you check the components of your secondary ignition system especially if it worsens when it's damp.

Outside temperature stuck at 50 degrees

the problem is your outside air temp sensor located on the front left corner of the radiator at the top. the sensor can be bought at your local parts store (napa, car quest, auto zone) for approx 8-10 bucks. 5 min replacement.

My2002 toyota tacoma 4 cylinder trucks check engine light went on this morning. Xmas Eve. I have 200,000 miles on it. Can i drive it to my folks house and back home round trip is about 60...

If the light is on steady and not flashing go on ahead and when you get back stop by a parts store and ask if they can read the code and then go from there. When the light is on steady the computer substutes a known good value to keep it running till you can get it in for repairs. But if it flashes while driving that means it has a engine damaging condition going on and sud not be driven.

Engine runs between normal and upper normal temp

Don't run the car without a thermostat. It helps the car to reach operating temps quickly. also helps burn off blow by gasses by keeping the temps up and steady. check your radiator level once driving a few miles. Their may have been some air pockets that purged and need to be replaced with additional fluid.

Runs back in cold weather

The most likely problem with your van, assuming that there is no check engine light being lit is that the small motor on the air intake manifold has stopped working . this will cause the motor to run badly when it is at idle forcing you to keep the gas pedal depressed to keep it running smoothly. This motor usually has only 2 screws securing it to the manifold so it is an easy fix.

Good luck!
