When i had my 91 ford, the front tank gauge woul not work, but the back one did. i discovered that the wire plug on top of the tank had deteriorated and losing connection. if you change that, it may help it start working again.

SOURCE: Dual tanks on 1990 Ford F150

It should not cause no problems but instead of removing the tank leave it in the truck take out all the fuel in the tank and jus discontinue use of it. This will save you alot of time and trouble and i also suggest that if anyone besides you drives this vehicle then i would put a locking gas cap on it so it cant be accessed at anytime except by you.

How do i replace front fuel pump on a 1995 ford f150 5.0litre extended cab dual tanks how do i remove tank

May be easier to loosen rear box bolts, remove the
front bolts & tip up the bed, rather than lay on your back
& have to drop the tank & that way you don't have the
fuel removal issue, can stand there & just work on top
of tank

I have a 91 ford f-150 with a dual tank.. all at once the truck quit running so i switched to the rear tank where i have fuel flow .. ? is there more than one fuel pump

Yep,a pump in each tank, the switch just powers one or the other, have to replace the one pump,
don't forget to put in a new filter at that point also.

Where is the fuel transfer valve on a dual tank 1993 Ford F150 located?

From what I can find out Ford did not use a fuel transfer valve in 1992. They ran both pumps to a common fuel line and used one way check valves to keep one pump from filling the other tank while keeping the entire fuel system pressurized. Your tank selector switch is actually switching pumps off and on, not a transfer valve. The problem Ford had was the one way valves failing causing one of the tanks to overflow. They have an external one way valve kit to solve this problem, but the valves are about $85.00 each.

1990 ford f150 cross over valve location

Please Help ME by Remembering to RATE ME Thank you Vrey Much !!!

This vehicle does not use an external fuel tank switching valve. A supply check valve in the fuel pump assembly opens when the outlet pressure from the energized fuel pump exceeds the opposing check valve spring force.

Dual tank only runs on one tank

there is an electric valve that switches from one tank to the other. it switches the gauge too. It is malfunctioning and pumping fuel from one tank to the other instead of the engine. I think there wa a recall for this. Call any Ford dealer and give him your 17 digit VIN # and they can check for open recalls. Recalls never expire and the dealer will repair for free if there is a recall.
good luck
