The security sistem locked up my car does not start or move
My car was running perfectly any problem at all. I parked for a while. When I intented to start it and dirive out from t he parking lot, the keay from the ignition did mot move at all, the steering wheel does not move too. The stick to move gears it wont move too, everything is locked up like a rock. I looked for a swich or something to make it run again, nothing worked.
Re: The security sistem locked up my car does not start...
There is a plug in the stering column that controls that. If you push on the brake then the gear shift will move the plug has malfunctioned and now you can not get key out. if you take off the plastic cover under the stering column and unplug this it should fix the problem. I had the same problem it is a safety switch. once unplugged you will not have to depress the brake to move gears.
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

so you did get the key to move enough and brakes on to move the shifter to neutral.
are you an the arctic circle, (i have a buddy there,) pop 100.
hand brake off,
park dis-engaged, neutral
if it dont move the brakes are locked
or one axle bearing is seized.
so jack up each wheel 1 by 1, and see if it turns
on flat ground, and other wheels chocked so car can not roll.
i bet all 4 can spin,
and you just can push this heavy pig. i can barely do my wrangler.
you tried to hand push a car?
lets work no starts
does it crank over in park/?
does the engine crank fast , while in the start position?
my guess is the park lock out is fooling you.
most cars the park lock up is complex now.
its really in park not neutral.
and the reason , blown fuse. my guess.
tell all that works key, on in details
head lights, not just my lights work say HEAD
they draw like 10 amps of current, about 100x more that other lights.
does engines start with jumper cables, jumped from a running car.
can AAA start car?
if yes, post that first. all else is effect not cause.
yes usually the 2 white wires break inside column that mount to lock cylinder assembly, try turning key on for 10 min than off than on for 10 min than off than on for 10 min.then try and start if starts and stays running will prob. need passlock sensor which is part of ignition lock cylinder
hi. this is correct and perfectly normal. you may notice the same in neutral
it is a safety catch operated when you press the brakes, and it is supposed to lock the selector in the park position ( and neutral on most cars) until the brakes are pressed. if you try to move the selector out of park (or neutral) with the engine running, and the brakes OFF, you should not be able to move the selector.
The steering wheel will not "lock" until you turn it about 45 degrees from center...this is normal. If your security light is flashing, there is a problem with your security system that is keeping you from starting the engine. Try this: Set the parking brake. Turn the ignition to the "RUN" position and wait about 10 minutes for the security light to stop flashing. When the light stops flashing, crank the engine without turning the key to the off position. If it starts, take the vehicle to get the security system checked. If it doesn't start, tow it. You probably need a new PassKey sensor.
Jump starting the battery may be all you need. If this vehicle was not in park when the battery went dead and when you got in to start it it was dead. You then probably put it into park trying to start it.
But the issue at this time is if it was in neutral when the battery went dead the you changing the selector to park may not actually have placed the transmission in park. With electronic gear selection it actually need power to the system to place the transmission in park. Without it really being in park the key may move to the lock position.
A bit of quess work here but I hope for you I hit the mark.
the security system problems are common on this - do the lights flash and horn cycles when it locks up - the security system is wired into car main computer - can't be bypassed as far as i know - i read that to get around this lock doors manually - no key or remote - also hood switch could be problem
Security is your problem (like for MANY others... me included). There is a detailed write-up here: http://vatspasskey.com . The guy is great, this was the only way I was able to save my 94 Park Avenue.
