Have 2005 pt cruiser full battery charge wont start


The starter motor has two voltage circuits. One comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the start position and starter relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through the engine block. If voltage and ground for the starter motor are good, then I would have to check starter motor. You can use a test light to check voltage. Any testing at starter motor make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

2004 f150 with no power to starter solenoid when cranking all fuses ok. any answers?

At the starter motor, two voltage circuits, one comes from the battery hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the crank position and is wired through starter relay. The starter motor grounds through engine block.
Your transmission range sensor could also cause a problem. Any testing, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.
My info says you have pats security system, that can disable your starter, have to be sure your security system isn't causing a problem?

1999 mercury mountaineer can not get key to link with pats no spark and no fuel


PATS doesn't disable spark or fuel . disables starter circuit !

Starter won't engage on my 2002 mercury mountaineer, battery is good,and starter is good, it has power, but the fuel pump won't work


If the starter motor won't crank, I'd have to check starter motor wiring circuits. Any testing, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set. Usually two voltage circuits at the starter, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other goes hot with key in the crank position and is usually wired through the neutral or clutch switch, depending on the tranny. You may have a starter relay, I haven't looked at your wiring. The starter is usually grounded through the engine block
I haven't looked to see if your security system may disable starter and fuel pump or if those are two separate issues?

2003 Saturn Vue with a identity anti theft system. Replaced my battery a few months ago. Couple weeks ago noticed a little difficulty starting up. Last week wouldn't start just clicking noise. Jumped...


Anti-theft system has nothing to do with it . Battery cables , maybe , Park neutral safety switch possibly ! With anti-theft system problem you wouldn't a click or anything , that is if the anti-theft disables fuel or the starter . Plus the SECURITY light would be on if it were a anti-theft system problem . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop that knows how to do starter circuit testing >

And what's this identity anti theft system ? No such thing ! The vehicle has a content theft an vehicle theft deterrent system !
This system disables fuel not cranking of the engine. The VCM/PCM will not disable the fuel due to any BCM message for the remainder of the ignition cycle.
If the VCM/PCM does not receive the same password from the BCM as the last learned one, the vehicle will start and then stalls due to the Fuel Lockout.

2005 Sedona wont start, wont take a jump. Radio works and lights come on but wont turn over. Friend said to follow the positive battery cable to its end and id find the starter. cant find it. looked here...


OK, even if you find the starter, you'll have to find a way of testing it.

Starter Testing Starting System Voltage Drop Tests NOTE: The battery must be in good condition and fully charged prior to performing this test.
There are three area of the starter motor circuits that voltage drop test can be performed on. These include:
  • The starter feed circuit
  • The starter ground circuit
  • The starter solenoid.
Starter Feed Circuit
  1. Disable the fuel system by removing the fuel pump fuse or the fuel pump relay.
  2. Verify that the vehicle will not start.
  3. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to the positive terminal of the battery.
  4. Connect the negative lead of a voltmeter to the starter B+ terminal.
  5. Turn the ignition key to the START position and note the voltage displayed on the voltmeter.
    • Ideally, there should be no more than 0.1 volt drop for each connection displayed on the voltmeter. No voltage should be consumed by the vehicle wiring
      1. If the battery cable connects directly to the starter motor there should be no more than a 0.2 volt drop measured
      2. If the vehicle uses a starter solenoid between the battery and the starter motor terminal there should be no more than 0.4 volt displayed on the voltmeter
Starter Ground Circuit
  1. Disable the fuel system by removing the fuel pump fuse or the fuel pump relay.
  2. Verify that the vehicle will not start.
  3. Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the case of the starter motor.
  4. Connect the negative lead of the voltmeter to the negative terminal of the battery.
  5. Turn the ignition key to the START position and note the voltage displayed on the voltmeter.
    • Ideally, there should be no more than 0.1 volt drop for each connection displayed on the voltmeter. No voltage should be consumed by the vehicle wiring
      1. If the battery cable connects directly to the starter motor there should be no more than a 0.2 volt drop measured
    • Starter Solenoid
  6. Disable the fuel system by removing the fuel pump fuse or the fuel pump relay.
  7. Verify that the vehicle will not start.
  8. Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the case starter B+ terminal.
  9. Connect the negative lead of the voltmeter to the lug (the starter M terminal) that connects the starter solenoid to the starter motor.
  10. Turn the ignition key to the START position and note the voltage displayed on the voltmeter.
    • Ideally, there should be no more than 0.2 volt drop across the starter solenoid displayed on the voltmeter.
In general, there should be no more than a 1.0 volt drop throughout the entire starter motor feed and ground circuit. Any voltage drops measured in either the feed or ground circuits after connections have been cleaned will require replacement of the affected battery cable. Typically, any voltage drops measured in the solenoid are repaired by replacing the starter motor.

Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Record the radio anti theft code data.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

To install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    Starter motor. Tighten the bolts to 20-24 ft. lbs. (27-33 Nm). On 2002-05 vehicles, starter heat shield Starter motor electrical connectors. Tighten the battery terminal nut to 106-141 inch lbs. (12-16 Nm). On 2002-05 vehicles, shift cable Negative battery cable Reprogram the radio anti theft codes

It will not start or even turn over when I try to start it


Vehicle not all the way in Park or Neutral? Bad battery? Bad battery cable? Bad Transmission range selelector switch? Bad Starter? Bad starter relay? Onboard security system disabling start circuit? Locked-up engine?

What is working and what is not? Headlamps? Interior dome lamps? Radio? Warning lamps on dash? Is the "Security" light flashing?

Is it making any noises when you turn the key?

I looked at all the steps for replacing the blower motor...they should not have messed with anything that would have affected the operation of the starter.

Starter will not turn over until the batt. cable is disconnected


Sounds to me like there is a short in the starting system that is causing this (or it's wired wrong). Ford starter solenoids are known for problems. The reason the starter will turn after the cable is disconnected is because the circuit (or in this case short circuit) has been broken . I'll bet if you replace the starter solenoid, your problem will be solved. I think it's just "shorting-to-ground". Good Luck!
