In the morning the car starts and as I drive, the speed power gets lower sometimes. So I stop the car and start it again, sometimes up to 4 times a morning , then it drives fine.

Today it also did this to me in the afternoon and had no speed power. None of the lights are on.

    What is the problem?

I assume you are choke-hunting in response to a cold-start issue? Mercedes-Benz has not used a mechanical (driver-actuated) choke in their vehicles for some time, I believe. It used to be a knob with a symbol that looked like a flap pivoting in an aperture.

Your 1999 should limit air flow (choke,) or richen the fuel mixture without your input. Let me know what your symptom/concern entails.

The air flow is not restricted to richen the mixture, the fuel injector pulse weith is adjusted for more fuel flow based on coolant temp, air charge temp and barometric pressure, so much mis-information out there. I think your problem may be a failing fuel pump.

The air intake valve/choke on carberator/ fuel block will not funtion properly , open up, it is continuely closed chokeing no air intake, there is a vacume line not connected, on this carb, does it control...

Firstly, if it's fuel injected, there is no choke. That cold start mode is actuated by the computer. IF it has a carb on it, the choke is opened a little to keep it running with a vacuum line connected from the choke dashpot to the carb base when cold till warm-up, then a heat spring pulls the choke full open. Your gonna have to make up your mid as to whether it fuel injection or natural aspiration with a carburetor.

I have a 1989 Mercedes 560SEL. Gasoline engine.Problem is the car will not start unless I push the choke down on top of the carburetor OR I can prime it with a little gas After doing this I can drive it...

Vacuum is only used to open the choke. To close, assuming it is an automatic choke, there is a thermal spring coil. There is usually an adjustment that consists of loosening the fasteners on the round spring housing and turning. It should have marks for different settings, but these are not exact. Adjust in the morning by loosening the screws, opening the throttle with one hand, and rotating the spring housing until the choke is just closed. Tighten the screws. Make sure to check the engine after it warms up to see if the choke is opening properly. There may also be a fast idle setting that uses a cam to increase the idle when tne choke is closed.

The first thing i would look at here is the choke pull. Make sure that after the car starts, the choke props open. Also, as the engine warms, make sure the electric choke is opening up. If not, make sure you have 12V to the choke. If so, replace it. This should solve the problem.

But let me know if you need any further assistance, ok? We'll get it working! :)

Check the Air Intake Temperature sensor, that is used by the control module to determine when to start and stop the choke. The AIT is mounted on the air intake.

2001 mercedes c240 has a really rough start but when the car almost dies I turn the car off wait 3 seconds and it starts perfect. Next comes the issue with having to warm it up before driving anywhere...

Gasoline- thank you. Warm up is not an issue like diesel is. Sounds like the choke is is either wide open or over choking. With the engine cold, remove the air cleaner and note where the plate is at the opening of the carb. If it is wide open then without touching anything else and engine not running, step down on the gas pedal and see if the choke plate reset itself to restricter the carb inlet. If it didn't, then take some WD 40 and spray the linkages and the rod ends holdin the choke plate.By hand work the plate and linkage holding the gas open at the carb. Then set the plate to wide open and do the gas pedal thing agan to see if choke sets itself back to restricting the carb intake. If it does, start the engine and as the engine warms upm the choke plate should start opening on its own and you are off and running. Roitine question. Is your air cleaner clean? If the choke plate needs adjusting. get back to me. K? Good luck Remember to press the gas pedal down once before cranking. That sets the choke for cold start. Hope this helped you Good luck Note, the WD40 won't hurt anything but avoid spraying with engine running or when engine is hot..

1998 C180 Sport Automatic choke faulty

If it's fuel injection I don't think it will have a choke. It will have what they call an Idle Air Bypass valve or something of that nature. If you can find it take it off and spay Carb cleaner through it. Be carefull not to get it in your eyes. I'll do some research and see if I can find a photo for you. A lot of the time they get dirty and just need a good cleaning.
