SOURCE: Low oil pressure light goes on until car warms up. Oil level is good

The oil pressure sending unit has gone bad. I sending unit is just above the oil filter and you can get to it from the top. When you face the Engine look down towards the oil filter, the oil pressure sending unit is just above that and it looks like a cylinder with two wires coming from it. If you don't see it, it's right between the exhaust manifold and oil filter.
If you go to Auto Zone or Parts Source, they'll have the oil pressure sending unit and the step by step instructions, When installing the new sensor. Do not use teflon tape or any sealant, the sensor is tapered and need's the good ground from the engine to give you right readings.
Good luck and hope this helps.

What does low oil pressure on 2008 Chevy Impala 3.5 V6 LS

Do you mean what causes low oil pressure? This is a very reliable engine for the most part. If the oil light is on or gauge is reading low, have the oil pressure sensor inspected for failure. These sensors do go bad.

Low oil pressure light when accelerating hard

This may sound too simple, but is your oil level sufficient? Some cars have the oil pump at the front, if the oil level is low and you accelerate, the oil is pushed to the back of the oil pan and the oil pump draws air and cavitates, causing momentary low pressure. If that's not the case, I suggest you hook up a direct reading oil pressure gauge, because it sounds like you have an actual oil pressure issue.

Low oil pressure

your oil level may be low. your oil may be worn out (when was it changed last?) the sensor that reads oil pressure may be malfunctioning.
a simple trip to Autozone or a similar parts store should yield a definitive answer at no cost to you. I add 1/2 of a quart of LUCAS Oil Stabilizer when I change my oil...remember to change your oil and filter between 3,000-5,000 miles.

My Honda Accord Ex 1996 Model automatic transmission is experiencing shortage of engine oil 4 weeks after servicing or changing the oil

How low was it?

Have you seen any leaks on the ground?

Here is what I would do. Fill up the oil so it reads full on the dipstick. Drive it for a couple of days and then check the oil level. If its down a half a quart or more than you have a serious issue and more than likely an external leak. If it is leaking that ba than it should be fairly obvious where the leak is coming from and a visual inspection under the hood and under the car should reveal the source of the leak.

Where is the oil pump?

Probably not. Make sure you have a clean oil filter and check the oil level. Also, make sure the oil filler cap is secured.

Past weekend check engine light comes on, engine sounds and feels fine. However the oil pressure is running slightly slow

Check that the oil level is full.If the oil has been in service for more than 4,000 miles, change it. Replace the oil pressure sending unit. If nothing changes, put a mechanical gauge on the engine and read actual oil pressure. Though "acceptable" low pressure is only 5lbs, I would never accept that as safe. Minimum pressure should be at least 20-25psi and normal running pressure between 35 to 45psi.
How low is "slightly low"?

1996 Explorer 4wd sport - oil pressure

I would use 10W-30W, but that should not make the oil pressure read low, have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical test guage, if it tests within normal range then start by replacing the oil pressure sending unit.

Like 3 days after i got my oil changed in my 2006 chevy impala the low oil pressure shut off engine light comes on

This is an idication of a severe oil leak. Check the oil level in your engine to see if there is any in it. Add to the full mark and return to the oil change shop and ask them to see where the leak is. Do not operate without oil. Severe engine damage will occur. Hope this helps Moe
