Check the serpentine accessory belt , replace with new one .

Make sure you have brake lights.This is were the shifter solenoid gets it's signal from to get it out of gear.
One thing you can try is turn the igntion switch towards the run postion stopping just short of activating the electronics.Then try and move shifter to neutral then you can start it and out it into gear so you can drive it to get it fixed.

all fords/lincoln/mercury have a door ajar switch on all 4 door latches you can change just the switchs & some have a door conrtol module i have seen somw fords internal wiring & just pull the door ajar bulb out or just ignor it

the door switches are part of the door latch, the easiest way to remedy this is to spray liberal amounts of WD40 into each latch and open and close the each door a few times, this should loosen up the latch and solve your problem.

SOURCE: 2000 Navigator - something draining on battery - goes dead

Hellokrissypoo4...Your navigator has what is known as a parasitic battery drain...meaning, something in the vehicles system is not turning off...here is the way i test for this, you will need a digitial multimeter to perform this test...when doing this test make sure that the dome light, under hood light, trunk light, etc. are OFF.

  1. Remove the negative side battery cable from the negative battery terminal.
  2. Attach an ammeter(this measures amperage) between the negative cable and the negative battery post. wait a few seconds to several minutes for the car to go into sleep mode. i.e. when you make the contact with the test light the cars computer systems "wake up" after a bit of time they will go to "sleep".
  3. If the ammeter is reading over 25-50 milliamps, something is using too much battery power.
  4. Go to the fuse panel(s) and remove fuses, one at a time. Pull the main fuses (higher amp ratings)last. Be sure to observe the ammeter after pulling each fuse.
  5. Watch for the ammeter to drop to acceptable drain. The fuse that reduces the drain is the draw. Consult the owners' manual or service manual to find what circuits are on that fuse.
  6. Check each device (circuit) on that fuse. Stop each lamp, heater, etc. to find the drain.
  7. Repeat steps 1&2 to test your repair. The ammeter will tell you exact numbers

    NOTE:
  8. Some after-market alarm systems may make this test too long or loud to be worth the effort. If that's the case, seek professional help.
  9. In more and more models made after 2003 disconnecting the battery will reset the PCM requiring the modules to relearn. In certain cases this requires a factory scan tool. It is best to take such cars to either the dealer or a professional in auto electrical systems.
  10. Be careful working around the battery in a car

2000 lincoln continental check ride control on dash car does not rise. some times it rises sometimes it don't, vdm wiring diag. don't match mitchell


There's a relay under hood on frt radiator support under plastic headlamp tray near hood latch.very common.harness connector heats andwires corrode.

Disconnect your battery cable for a few minutes and then reconnect and see if anything has reset.If not,you may need to let Ford diagnose it. don-ohio,ower of 2004 LS

it is a dead ground somewhere...if it started when radio was installed then thats where i would look again,could be something that was overlooked...good luck.

Why do my 2000 Lincoln Continentals interior lights keep coming on and going off when it is parked with the keys out until the battery goes dead?


because all those fancy doodads that someone paid extra for so long ago are now worse than useless, the circuitry has gone south. you are not alone, many old lincolns do the same thing yet folks continue to buy them. the only real fix is to pull the fuse which the doodads share and live without them, unless you want to spend more than the car is worth and have it fixed at a dealer.

Definitely sounds like a starter. When a bad starter is cold, it will start the car. After riding around for a while or after several starts in a row, the starter heats up and won't start without a boost. Since you've ruled out the battery and alternator, I'm positive a new starter will solve your problem. Good Luck!
