Question about 1999 Lexus RX 300
The check engine light came on the other day but went off after I removed the battery cable but a few days later it came on again. It comes on occasionally and have been told a few years ago it was an o2 sensor. The light doesn't come on when I start the car to warm up only when I drive. The check engine light starts flashing and running very rough like the car is missing. We've had the car since it was new and have only ever had to replace the idle control valve about 5 years ago. I have put around 500 miles on the car in the last 1 1/2 week.
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: 2002 RX 300
I have a 2001 RX 300 and mine has done the same thing. The first time it happened the dealer had me bring it in. It was under warranty, and they replaced something, which I can't remember. Then it happened a year or so ago, and the service rep at the dealership told me that her car does the same thing, and I should just let it reboot itself in a day or so. It did it two days ago driving back from a long trip. The service rep said to bring it in because she didn't know what was going on (I think she was new).
It's now resolved itself again. It must be a fluke with the model, but I don't worry about it.
