Question about 2006 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

2006 GMC Envoy battery is being drained by a short of some kind. Changed the battery 4 times and the alternator twice in the last year

I started the vehicle and drove to the gas station to fill up. When I returned turned the car off, loaded it for a trip, and when I turned the key it just made a clicking noise. I had to leave town in another vehicle. The next night I returned and the battery was so drained, the automatic keyless entry would not even unlock the door.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If your key is stuck in the ignition, you are probably going to need a new ignition module and lock cylinder. You may be able to wiggle it loose. If not, it will have to come apart. There is really no other way to bypass it. Have you tried looking at the battery yet? Clean the terminals and post, along with wire ends. See, everything inside the vehicle, from locks, dash, radio, windows, ect., they are controlled by the BCM. Do you have a security light blinking? Try looking at the battery first. Make sure the ends are not damaged or loose. Check your fuses, ignition fuse. Do you have power inside the vehicle?

I have a 3s 2000cc egine, the problem is high fuel consumption. Imagin 1lt only going for 6km. Please help.

Hi there,

As you have not stated the vehicle MODEL or Year of Manufacture, I will provide a 'general' solution:

There could be numerous causes for high fuel consumption, but if you have used this amount of fuel in such a short journey, there would have to be leaking fuel somewhere.

However, the only true method to measure "ACTUAL" fuel consumption (disregard trip computer) is:

- Completely fill tank to a pre-determined point inside the fuel tank filler tube.
- Set your cluster Trip Meter to: 0000
- Drive vehicle for 6 - 15km and return back to the same gas station pump used previously.
- Completely fill tank to the same point inside the fuel tank filler tube, where filled previously.
- Note the quantity of litres required to fill to that same point in the filler tube.
- Divide the litres used, by the total Km travelled on your Trip Meter.
- If the value calculates less than 20 (carburettor engine); less than 15 (EFI engine), then consumption is acceptable.

Note: if value is above these numbers, then you have a fuel leak, or a problem with your vehicle's carburettor adjustment. EFI engines can have numerous causes, including electronic sensor faults etc.

Cheers,

1987 Toyota Camry, auto, 4 cyl. I thought I was low on gas (since had fuel light on)...car would not start. Walked home (20 mins) came back and added fuel (1 gal), started and drove to gas station - filled...

theres a couple of things to check for this first generation series,, check the Air flow meter connector FP terminals, and intake tube, make sure its tight and doesnt have a leak.

I bought a used 2003 A4 Convertible Audi 3.0 Feels it burns more gas than expected. Is there anything I can check or do to reduce that. Thanks Sean

to see what you get for mileage, take it to a gas station and fill it till the pump stops and reset your trip meter. Drive it around like you normally would to work or whatever till the tank is almost empty and go fill it up again till the pump stops. Its best to go to the same pump you used before. Once it is full look to see how many gallons or liters you put in(This is how many you used since the last time you filled up). Take the number of miles/kilometers from your trip meter(the number of miles/kilometers you drove since you last filled up) and divide it by the gallons/liters you used and you will get your miles/kilometers per gallon/liter. Compare this with the rating your vehicle is suppose to get. But remember it can very depending on how you drive.
Miles/kilometers divided by gallons/liters

Car will not start after gas.

Deposits build up in the gas tank over time due to poor quality gas. When you fill your tank, you stir up those deposits and causes them to get stuck in the fuel filter causing low gas pressure. I recommend driving until you hit empty and drain the rest of the gas out of your gas tank, then replace the fuel filter. Of course buy a gas can that will hold enough gas to get you to a gas station so you can fill your ca. when you get to the gas station add some gas treatment to the tank and fill it. The treatment will clear out any deposits that might be in the fuel lines between the gas tank and the filter. Fuel filter have replacement intervals just like oil and if you dont keep up on those, it comes back at you.

Check the fuel filter, you may have clogged it when you filled the tank.

Lite poped on for gas filled it and now wont stay going

You got a tank of bad gas. You need to drain the tank and refill with good gas. If that doesn't resolve issue you need to check fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump gave up on you.
