Question about 2002 Nissan Xterra
A month ago the rear hatch began making a buzzing noise when I turned the ignition off and had a foot on the brake. Lift foot off brake pedal and buzzing stopped. To stop the buzzing I disconnected the rear windshield wiper arm. Seemed to stop buzzing although once or twice the buzzing began when I turned car off. No other problems with car until a few days ago when I was driving in traffic and the car lost power. Dash lights all lit up. I managed to switch lanes and coast to a stop in the emergency lane. The engine started right up without any problem. I drove a few miles until I could park. After a couple hours I drove 5 or 6 miles and the engine died again while I was at full speed on the highway. I had 1/4 tank of gas, oil & water were fine. No warning before the engine died either time.

I think that your crank angle sensor failed. Is the check engine light on?? if so, scan it and get code. If the code is P0335, than you need new crank angle sensor. Nissan has been having some problems with those even on other Nissan products. (Altima, Pathfinder and so on) Good luck.

You need to have your engine flushed and cleaned out. One or more of your spark plugs aint firing. You need to replace them all to include the wires as well. If you dont get your engine flushed, you could blow your engine up.

I really think it's the TPS, (throttle positioning sensor) on the throttle body. When this sensor is defective or out of position the vehicle will idle like that and even stall. If you haven't had it scanned, you should do so, that will probably tell you the problem.
