Sounds to me that it is using to much oil and its time for a rebuild or replacement. the noise you here is most likely lifters and tappets, when it gets low on oil it will do this, and if it gets to low it will burn up the rod and main bearings. what you need to do is deside what you want to do with the car, rebuild engine or replace, i don't have any idea on price, but all you have to do is call a local salvage yard and get a price on a used engine, and then a shop that does rebuilds. and weight the diiference, i think you will find it will be cheaper to just get another car. i can give you a gusstament on cost, used engine, 400 to 600 + labor, rebuild 1000 to 2000+ labor. remember thies are just guessaments. you will have to call around your area to get the correct prices.

Its 3 1/2 Quarts, but you might as well put a full 4 quarts in if it goes through that much. make sure you change the filter aswell!
dirty oil will not cause your engine to go through it any faster.
Is the oil leaking or is the engine burning it?
Sounds like lifter noise. The best solution for lifter noise is, change
the oil use a good quality oil , i would recommend a synthetic oil or
at least a couple of quarts. Then get a bottle of MARVEL MYSTERY OIL
this stuff works good add that to you oil when you change it and that
should clear up any lifter noise. Another thing that might help use a higher grade gas a couple of times.
Hi ..... With this milage I'd expect at the same time the following would have been done, valve seals changed, valve guides checked/replaced, bores honed and valves reground into the cylinder head. Not to have done any of these is false economy and bad engineering practice.
The symptoms you state, esp'ly on topping up, point towards valve seals or guides.
Take the plugs out and examine, they should all be a light tan. Carryout a compression test across the bores and come back with the results.
Take it to a shop that can read the codes from the computer. It's called an OBD scan. As for the oil problem there is only 2 ways it can be leaving the engine. 1 is that it's being burned which is will have blueish smoke coming from the exhaust. 2 is a leak. I always try to park on some clean cardboard and that makes it easy to see the drops. If it doesn't leak while just sitting there have it run for 15mins while on the cardboard. Oh and 3 someones letting it out. Do you have any enemies?
I got a new starter last year aug 25th...starter seems dead again....is this supposed to happen???? starter never seemed right as it always made noise when starting car...tech said noise would go away but it never did.
