There is no dip stick on this car, there is a allen key screw on the gearbox  sump, the temperature for this check is stamped on the sump. its a job for a garage  as the car has to be level you remove the screw and oil should only trickel out the filler is on the side of the box  D

Ok... don't think they put the motors in sideways on a jag... look near the back by the firewall for a metal loop handle just like the oil dip stick... i believe it will be on the right of the motor.... if you still cannot find that let me know.. i should have the service manual some where on my computer.

For there to be no oil on the transmission dip stick there must be a big leak in the box somewhere. Pouring in oil at one end will only be a waste of money until the leak is fixed. You will probably be looking at 1 1/2 gallons to fill the transmission. Check the coolant for oil in the water or get underneath and look for a large oil slick under the car.

Sounds like low on oil but i dont think this year has a dip stick and its a dealer only job to check the oil level but with a funnel and a breather on top of the gearbox you may be able to add a litre and try it ??

I want to locate where the gear box oil goes in my vautomatic vitara 1996 model

Gear Box Oil refers to manual transmission normally. Goes in a 1/2 inch or so hole in the side of the box. You don't need to add unless it is leaking. Remove the plug and put your finger into the hole. If you get oil on your finger, it is full.

I'm not familiar with a 'vautomatic' ... if this is a type of automatic in the Suzuki (I am a Suzuki MC expert) you will find the dip stick in the engine compartment. There will actually be two dip sticks ... one for engine oil (black) and one for the trans (oil should be red or pink). If it is dark or smells burnt, have it replaced.

Was told have a leak in the transmission, oil leak and possible coolant leak. not having any problems that would detect this runs good where do i start i am in lawton, ok . 2004 jaguar x-type.

If you have water in your transmission, you will not be driving for very long. Water should show up on the dip stick. Remove the transmission dip stick. If the fluid is not pretty pink or if it smells bad (burned) you need immediate attention. Did I mention, you need immediate attention?

You could ignore this problem. A replacement transmission is probably less than $4,000.00. And, there may be no need to worry about it.

Please have a professional in Lawton, Ok. evaluate this situation at your soonest convenience.

Where do i put the transmission oil

The transmission fluid is added through the same location where the dip stick is located, using a funnel add the transmission fluid, allow the vehicle to reach operating temperture, and check the level while the vehicle is running.

Where is transmission oil located in the car?

do you mean..dip stick? oil filter? or something like that?

if it is a manual transmission they have a filler hole rather than a dip stick.........

if it is a automatic transmission the dip stick should be located under the hood in the right side "passengers side" or in the drivers side if it is a front wheel drive car....
