Should be a tag on the differential under one of the cover bolts that has that info on it. Otherwise you will have to take cover off and the ring gear will have the ration stamped on it on the edge... You could also count the teeth on the ring and pinion, divide the ring gear count by the pinion gear count.

Newer units don't use an expansion valve, but instead just an orifice tube, usually located in the junction of the high side hose to the evaporator under the hood.

That is your vin the frame is your vin it may have a switched power-train but the vin belongs to the frame not engine and transmission.

we see this allot, you might be able to get the instrument cluster replaced under a warranty recall, you will need to have your dealer run the vin number to see if you truck qualifies. if not you will have to replace the instrument cluster, now hear is the fun part the instrument cluster has it's own on-board computer built in so it has to be programed to your truck, even if you get a used one it will not work in your truck untill you have it programed with your trucks vin and current millage, GM you got to love them.
