Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Am
Acrid smell from engine compartment (3.4L V6). I thought it might be the alternator, upon replacement, smell did not go away. Auto transmission shifts are jerky, Transmission oil is at proper level, 106 K is the mileage.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This sounds like you have a dirty transmission filter . I would change the filter and transmission fluid on it . That should fix the problem but if it does not check the vacuum line to make sure it is on and not leaking.

some of the trannys has straps in them that sometimes needs to be tightened and that could be the cause of it

Check the fluid level on your clutch slave cylinder. Have someone depress the clutch while visually observing the movement of the levers under the hood. Could also be a bad throwout bearing.
