I did an oil change on my Volvo 850 turbo, added 4 quarts of oil and it does not show on dipstick

You need more oil. Add until it says it is full or in the full range. Also make sure you oil plug is tight on the oil pan.

Knocking problems

Have a shop check the oil pressure and listen to the engine for you. Knocking usually indicates a serious engine issue.

Volvo has had a lot of trouble with ABS control units. Yours will most likely need to be replaced. You can either replace it with an exchange unit from a Volvo parts supplier or send yours to BBA reman. in MA for repair.

your best bet is to buy a Haynes book on your car from Autozone for $20.00
It will tell you if you have stretch bolts or not in your engine.

Too much crank case pressure

to much crankpressure can be caused by a couple of things....a clogged PCV valve(cheapest) or compression blow-by at the piston rings ( most expensive) you need to have a cylinder leak down test performed...that will tell you where the problem is

Volvo 850 oil pressure sending unit

It's on the engine, right next to the starter, it has one wire going to it. You don't need to drain the oil. If the light is coming on, you may have bad seals in the oil pan, a fairly common problem, but replacing the switch is a good fisrt step.

Volvo 850 oil pressure sending unit.

it's generally located near or on the housing for the oil filter. you shouldn't need to drain the oil... just clean off any dirt around the sensor before you replace it... and yes i know this is very obvious to most people but i have to mention it whether i want to or not... this is done with the motor off.
