If the timing belt broke while the engine was running you are up for lots of dollars. You will have bent valve stems and that means head off and new valves. Best leave this job to experienced mechanics

My nissan pathfinder is 220,000 km, im not sure if they change the timing belt, i went to mechanic and he told me i have to change my timing belt,do i have to change my timing belt now, it works fine now

Nissan suggests the timing belt be replaced every 103,000 miles. If the belt has never been changed I would say you're living on borrowed time. This is an interference engine so if the belt fails you could end up with a seriously damaged engine.

If it ran prior to removing the distributor, it maybe 180 degrees out. Remove the cap, leave the rotor in place, loosen the bolt and lift it up,turn rotor until it is on the opposite side and place it back in.

Hey the water pump just went in my 1998 toyota rav4 2litre. how do i go about replacing it ? i cant find anywhere on here

Your water pump is driven by your timing belt, can not be seen with out remove timing belt cover, to replace you will also have to remove timing belt, if timing belt has not been replace best to replace it now also, timing belt should be replace every 60,000 miles. make sure before removing timing belt that you mark where all pulley gear's are at, so when you install the timing belt back on there in the same place as before you move the timing belt, no need to mark water pump gear, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

Timing belt on 2001 pt cruiser went

Have you installed a new timing belt? If yes then you must do a compression test on each cylinder to verify no piston/valve damage. Your motor is not a freewheeling one. Damage is most likely to occur if your belt has failed.

The timing belt broke, went to replace it, head crank wont turn

The vehicle has an interference engine. This means that when the piston can hit the valves when not in time. The valves are damaged or bent or shattered . The head or engine most likely is going to have to be replaced.

01 civic timeing belt went, are the valves ok?

It is an interference engine and I always change the water pump when I replace timing belts because it's cheap insurance and you don't want to go there again if it goes out in a couple of months after you replace the timing belt.
