Fuel gauge not working on 2005 dodge ram 1500

If your car uses the CAN-bus system it is possible the system must be told it has a new fuel pump and gauge unit fitted before it will work.

Any codes connected with the instruments can't be read on a normal obd2 scanner or code reader and altogether more dedicated equipment and software is needed for car and chassis systems. Obd2 is only for things that will or are likely to affect tailpipe emissions.

Still have problem with new alternator and battery

testing a battery with a multimeter is a waste of time . To properly test a battery you need a load meter that registers the battery voltage before and during a heavy discharge situation. If the alternator will not charge a battery it may be from the fact that the rectifier in the alternator is not working . You may be getting 12 volts but if it is ac current ( what an alternator produces) then the battery will never charge as what goes in immediately comes back out.. If the switch sparked at you it is because there is a dead short in the circuit that jumped the points in the switch. If you are still using the vice grips on the un -fused wire then that is a receipe for disaster. Basically when you have a vehicle like you have it is best to restore everything to original first then find where the faults are using a schematic diagram from a genuine workshop manual.

No dash lights when headlights are turned on. Everything works fine on my vehicle EXCEPT today the panel lights don't work. Turn signals, hazard blinker, oil gauge, rpm gauge, speedometer, drive shift...

there is a regulator for the display brightness, you may have it turn'd down or it has stopped working;. it controls the brightness at which the dash lights are. usually has a speedo sign on it. goes up and down. it works with the main light and is conecter to them on the same lighting board if it has gone then a new light swtch control switch will be needed.

After running, all systems go down.

When it won't start, does it crank over and not fire?

Instrument panel went dead

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

The lights on my dash board flicker on and off then turn off.

I had the same problem some time ago, lights would go on and off, odometer appeared to stop counting at times rpm gauge would work and then not... power steering would off and on work and head lights would blink on and off when in driving light mode (off position).. The fix for me was I had to have the dash computer replaced (about $500). After doing this around 50k miles ago all the gremlins seem to have remained gone.. Hope this helps
