Code 31?? 1jzgte 1992 toyota supra

Recently my Jdm 1992 toyota supra with the 2.5 L 1jzgte has been running weird. The engine light is on and when diagnosed it gives me the code 31. There is a leak in the valve cover but I wouldn't think that this would cause an issue but since code 31 leads mainly to the MAP sensor i was thinking it might but want to know if you guys can help me out with this.

SOURCE: check engine light in 2006 Toyota Corrolla..code P2716

P-2716 refers to a harsh shift, and the issue is in the logic of the ECU. It is a known issue with Toyota. This repair is covered for 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Take your vehicle to a Toyota dealer, and have them perform the repairs outlined in Technical Service Bulletin TC015-07. They will replace the ECU if you vehicle has less than the time & mileage as described above.

SOURCE: OBD code 0401 (1997 Toyota Camry 4 cyl)

There is a VSV (vacuum switching valve) , usually mounted on the back side of engine block, under the intake manifold, as well as the map sensor, that can also cause that code if one or the other is faulty. It takes some pretty detailed troubleshooting to confirm this in some cases, so if that's not in your line of work, you may have to have it properly diagnosed, or take a 50/50 shot at which one first.

if you have done all the obvious repairs then you may have an issue with the pcm or wiring to it.. the knock sensor isnt crucial in driving as its only purpose is to get the best performance possible without the ping and knock created by to little or to much timing advancement done by the pcm..you can still drive it its just annoying seeing the light on.. if car does not run right then you have another issue like a miss in the engine.. check plugs wires coils

1987 Toyota Supra with brake light issues. All light work, but the brake lights don't get brighter. Does it have something to do with that little yellow box in the rear driver side pannel?

Brake light fuse , or burnt out bulb , or switch on brake pedal.
The bulbs have 2 filiments in them , 1 for running lights and 1 for brake lights.

Warning light on far left next to the temp gage comes on

This is knows as the "bird cage" by most MK3 owners. it's the coolant warning light. It means that either you don't have enough coolant in the system, or that your sensor has gone bad. I recently buoght my 2d MK3 Supra. Both have been 5 spd Turbo. This warning light is a simple fix. If you have any other questions about teh car please visit Supraforums.com They are very knowledgeable about any year Supra there.
