Question about 1999 GMC Sierra

2003 sierra won't start with aoto starter

I have an 03 gmc sierra that will only turn over once when the remote starter is activated. it will reset itself and try again but will not start. i think its something to do with the passlock. when you try to start it from the ignition it does the same thing. you have to wait at least ten minute before it will start .the dealer installed the viper remote starter and put a reset switch under the dash, but it doesn't seem to do anyting when this problem occurs. what do you think the problem is.i've had the problem now and again since the truck was new.dealer doesn't know what's wrong other than maybe being wired wrong.

Alot of alarms are installed incorrectly. I always encorage people to not buy them. installers put and tap into wires that should not be spliced with. have it removed and then go from there. i have seen many cars with random starting problems due to wiring faults. there is some many wires that could be messed up nowadays i could not tell you where to start.

This morning tried to start my 03 sierra 1500, i opened the driver door cab lights came on, put key into the ignition turned the key and the lights went out and the truck would not even crank nothing....

Try jump starting it. I suspect your battery is dead. After time they don't hold a charge as deep as they once did. Have it load tested to verify. Your lights and other options don't draw nearly what your starter needs.

2003 5.3L 4x4 GMC Sierra has started being hard

Sounds like a Solenoid might be bad on the starter if it spins freely and a high rate of speed without engaging.

Also, the relay could be bad.

I am ot sure if the fuel filter and pressure regulator would cause this problem.

No code will show with a bad starter or bad relay, I don't believe.

Good luck with this one.

Remote control no longer opens the lock

Sounds like the button to unlock doors on the fob is worn out. You can purchase a new one or used from your local recycle yard.

does the starter make a "clicking noise" when it wont turn over? check your battery cables at the battery and at the starter solenoid....if it not a connection , then it sounds like a bad starter relay/solenoid
