Normally on the tranny at the selector arm /rod. To check get a test light and see if there is power at one of the leads on the switch to earth (proves power to unit). next put the test lamp on the other lead to earth and see if there is power on and off as you move the selector lever from park to a gear

SOURCE: location of neutral safety switch on 1994 toyota land cruiser?

It's located on the right side of the transmission where the shift selector rod attaches to the selector lever on the trans, near the front of the transmission, it also has a large electrical connector on it.

Do you know how your starting system works ? Do you know about the starter relay ? All power comes to an through the starter relay . The park neutral safety switch is on the transmission. VEHICLE RELAYS Testing from the relay base If you have a anti-theft system problem the engine computer - PCM will not let the starter engage . Go to www.bbbind.com for a free wiring diagram of the starter circuit on your vehicle .

Where is the safety neutral switch located on a 1998 Volkswagen jetta automatic 2.0 gt?

I believe it's attached directly to the clutch pedal. You're gonna do some bending, but its there. Good luck.

Neutral safety switch

DOES IT START WHEN YOU PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, ALSO THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH IS LOCATED UNDER THE DRIVERSIDE CLUTCH PEDAL UP IN THE COLUM, IT SHOULD HAVE ONLY TWO WIRES FOR A REPLACEMENT.

How is the nuetral safety switch on a Hyundia Santa fe 06? I believe if I'm facing the car its accessible on the left side. I removed the skid plate but can't locate it.

First we need to make sure that its the neutral safety switch how did you come about that conclusion? Try this next time it will not start shift the gear into neutral and try to start it again if it starts every time you shift to neutral I would say yes start with your neutral safety switch. Your neutral safety switch is incorporated with your transmission range sensor located on the transmission follow the transmission linkage to the transmission there you should find the neutral safety switch usually black in color made of plastic with a wire harness connected to it you could get someone to shift it for you while you look to make sure you are looking at the right part.

Where is the neutral saftey switch on an 2004 chevy cavalier

It should start in neutral position. Neutral safety switch is usually located under the shift console by the shift lever.

Code p0722 speed sensor.... what is the real prob? thank you for your time

Not having more specific info as to the behavior of your vehicle it's hard to say. what the problem might be. Computer codes are only a place to startt.
The P0722 is for Output Speed Sensor 2 Circuit No Signal. This means that the transmission control module is not receiving a signal from the Output Speed Sensor.
I am assuming (based on this information) that your vehicle is front wheel drive and has an automatic transmission. If you have a different powertrain (i.e. quattro all wheel drive or a manual transmission), write back and let me know.
This P0722 is a common fault on front wheel drive automatic transmissions (called a CVT). The bad thing is that the output speed sensors are part of the transmission control module and the only way to repair that is to replace the transmission control module. The module is located inside the transmission. Expect to pay $1000 to $1500 for the module and another $700 to $900 for labor.
There is a possibility it could be the Neutral safety switch. They an get dirty and cause problems so spend a cople of dolars checking this before laying out the bigger bucks.
Testing Neutral Safety Switch

Required Tools:
Test Light/Voltage-meter
Wiring schematic
Neutral safety switch location (component location)

Test Procedure
Locate the neutral safety switch
Disconnect the wiring connector at the switch
Using a test light or volt-meter test for power at the wiring harness with the key in the "engine crank" or the gear shifter in the "reverse" position. (do not start the engine)
If power exists reconnect the neutral safety switch and probe outgoing wires at the connector.
If no outgoing power is present the switch has failed and needs to be replaced.
Tip : If the engine will not crank over with the car in "park" push down the brake pedal and try cranking the engine over with the car in "neutral". What you are doing is bypassing the "park" position in the switch and now are using the little used neutral circuit. If in neutral the engine starts the switch is probably bad.
Tip: Sometimes a neutral safety switch can become misadjusted. This switch adjustment can change due to normal wear of mechanism that controls switch slider.
Other complications can occur if there is a loose connection somewhere in the system. While this condition is not a shorted circuit problem, it is a condition that simply breaks the flow of electricity intermittently. To troubleshoot this problem consult a car repair manual to locate the wiring schematic for your car. Repair the broken or shorted connection as needed and recheck system. Electrical problems are less complicated when the proper information is available.
Hope this helps you

New starter on my monte carlo it still won't crank

Chances are that its a battery cable or connection. I would clean all of these very good and test that you have voltage at the starter.
If all checks out you will need to use a test light on the solenoid or start wire(small wire on starter). Wire the test light grounded touch the small wire while having someone turn the ignition to the start position, you should get a light. If you don't then chances are its the ignition switch located on the opposite side of the keys. It's an electrical switch which operates the starter and Accy and other.
The one other possible problem could be a neutral safety switch, try putting the car in neutral and try starting. If you get it to start you need a neutral safety switch.

When I turn the key the starter is not engaging there is no clicking or turning of the starter

Check to see if the wipers work. This is a battery test. If ok, try to start the car in neutral rather than in  park. If it starts in neutral, the neutral start switch needs to be adjusted, if not it may be bad and need replacement. The switch is usually located on the steering column or on the floor shifter if you have one, I'm not sure. Call you dealer and ask for the location.
