Question about 2001 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Car has poor accelaration, like asking for more gas.

Ok here I go, I bought a 2001 ford focus, model SE with transmission problems. I changed the transmission and the problem now is that when I accelerated the car the transmission shift hard. I replaced the sensor that belongs to code p1128 and it got a little better. But now has poor acceleration and the transmission shift smoothly but takes time to take the gears and looks like is missing the gears at the same time.
what could be the problem ?

Ford Focus SE 2002 wont start, no smell of it flooding?

If it was the fuel pump it wouldnt move at all but you can test the pressure on the fuel rail on top of the motor. Have you changed the fuel filter?

Ford Focus just had timing belt replaced now overheats when going over 20 miles per hour garage at wits end can't find solution

Hello! I'll need a little clarification...What is the sub-model code?...LX, SE...etc...Have any after market performance products been installed?...Was there an over heating problem before the timing belt was changed?...Lastly, does the engine idle and accelerate properly?...

I just changed the fuel pump on a 2001 ford focus.. the problem i have now is not enough fuel flow. the pump turns on. can start car with brake kleen.. then idles rough.. when given gas.. car suffocates.....

I may have read about a fuel pressure Regulator problem for that type of vehicle. I understand that there is a 10 year Warranty for the defective part. It would be worth calling a Dealer and asking if there is a Service Bulletin for your car. Have the Vin# available.

I have a 2000 ford focus se it want stay runnig unless you hold the gas pedal down as soon as you let the gas go it stops running i changed the fuel filter did not help

first of all, if light is on have it scanned for a problem code. if no scanner all auto parts stores will scan for free. there has been over 200 recalls for 2000 ford focus, check with ford to see if this is one of the problems. god bless, this is a long run, but check and see if fuel is getting to fuel pressure regulator.

Tune Time.
1)new spark plugs properly gapped.
2)new air filter (check every 35000 miles)
3)new fuel filter (every 35000 miles)
4)1 bottle of STP fuel treatment (red bottle) 4x a year.
5) oil and filter change (castrol or another good quality oil every 3-4000 miles.
6)proper air pressure in tires (check every 2 months
7) service transmission every 40000 miles or less.

New oil and filter
8) new plug wires every 80000 miles.

Slight miss

your fuel delivery module is under recall. 10 years from the date of original purchase (by anyone) from Ford. Recall campaign 03N01. Ford will play dumb at first, it's a "silent" recall. there are more here: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls
