SOURCE: dome lights

is the light switch in the back of the blazer on, that will turn on all the dome lights and not shut them off until that switch is turned off, it's just inside the blazer on the ceiling.

SOURCE: 2004 kia sorento the dome light will not come on

The problem is the diode needs to be replaced. The dome light works in the "on" position, but does not work when any of the doors are opened. The diode itself is about half the size of a dime which you can buy from a kia dealer for less then $20. You don't have to disconnect the battery to do this.
1. Remove the kick panel which is right next to the foot rest on the drivers side and where the fuse box is located. You will have to pry open the door foot guard to get to the other screw for the kick panel.
2. right next to the fuses box there is a wiring harness wraped in black cloth like material or some type of harness cover, just peel it back or remove. You can feel the diode through the wrap.
3. the diode is in a sleeve like incasement or cover carefully pry open and slide the diode out.
4. replace diode with new one and your done.

the actuator for the dome light is actually located inside the lock mechanism. Have you checked to make sure the dome light override button is in the out position?

2006 colbat dome light will not work

Are you saying that the dome light doesn't work when opening the door? Or when using the dash dimmer control to activate it? Or both?
There is a position on the dimmer control of most vehicles to disable the dome light. Verify that you don't have it in that position. It is normally at the opposite end of the dimmer rotation from the position that turns the dome light on. If the light doesn't work from either the dimmer or the door switch, check the bulb. They do burn out. If you replace it, do not touch the glass of the new bulb directly when installing. They get very hot and the oils on your fingers will cause premature failure. If everything seems ok (dimmer/door switch/bulb), check for a blown fuse. Otherwise the problem is in the car wiring.

Dome light door switch

These cars are known for this problem, and what I'd do is find a Ford Dealership mechanic's forum and ask there. You could also try calling the dealership part's department, and ask them. I'd bypass the dimmer, which eliminates all costs.

Replace the dimmer control. The door lock switch needs to be inspected. Repair may be possible.

How do I turn the inside ligts off in my 1992 buick skylark (dome light)

Take a close look at the picture below.

This is the dimmer switch.
It's also control on / off function.
In addition to this switch on the dashboard there are pin switch on each door.
Check and make sure all the pin switches are OK.

A damage pin switch will keep the dome light on.
If this is the case then remove the dome light bulb unit you has time to to repair the damage pin switch.

Help - The dome light in my 1998 Cavalier wont turn off. We have checked all the door switches, turned the dimmer switch for the dashboard with no effect and basically pushed every other button, switch we...

there is a plunger switch on each door and one on the dimmer you can disconnect each switch one by one until you find the problem. I would check the condition of each switch first making sure none are stuck, broken or bent

My dome lights keep coming on randomly when the engine is off. Why is this happening and what is the fix?

The dimmer switch controls the dome light. The switches in the door jamb turn the light on when you open the door and off when you close it. Check the position of the dimmer switch on the dash and if it is really close to the brightest setting move it slightly dimmer. It may be touching the switch for dome light constant on as if you move it all the way to the left it locks the light on. Now for the door switches. There are two different types. One type is built into the door latch itself and you would have to replace the door latch to repair it this is very difficult. The other type is a small button in the front of the door jamb that cuts dome power when you close the door. Ckeck to see if these are cracked or crushed and not fully turning the light off. press them in several times to see if they are sticking or loose as they are only held on by one nut and if the nut comes loose the switch moves closer to the light on position. If loose tighten the nut. If you have to replace it remove the kick panel just behind it , remove the nut, and pull it out from behind the panel. reverse to install new switch and careful not to over tighten as these things will snap in half very easily. Hope that solves your dome light worries, good luck and thanks for visiting for all your solutions, Rich

Spray lubricant in the driver's and passenger door latches. One of the switches in the latch are sticking. Open and close the door several times to free up the switch.
