Accidentally blew the alternator fuse when trying to jump start my truck after the battery died... After replacing the alternator fuse and the battery the truck turned right over and ran like a champ...when I went to move it there was nothing happening when the accelerator pedal was depressed...could I have blown another fuse? .

Depending on the year, you may have damaged the computer or the throttle position sensor.
Is the check engine light on when the engine is running ?

The check engine light is on when the truck is running...is there a fuse to check? Where is the throttle sensor located and how do u know if its bad?

If the warning light is on, I would have the computer scanned for trouble codes next. All of the sensors should get power from the same source.

SOURCE: Battery goes dead often. Must jump or charge almost everyday

perhaps your problem is not so complicated. maybe one of your vanity mirror lights arent shutting off or something. go out in your car at night and look for light after your dome light shuts off.

SOURCE: Won't do anything when trying to start. Jump start and fires up on the spot, but dies when gas pedal not depressed.

Check the ignition coil packs. It sounds like a spark problem.

SOURCE: new battery, new alternator, car still stalls

The alternator must be check for its DC output. Check with a voltmeter the main output wire (the fatest one) just put the probe on the nut that holds the large usually red wire on to the back of the alternator. Your battery probably needs to be recharged in order to start the car, run the car and check the output of alternator it should read 14 volts if so the alternator is good, make sure you don't have the two smaller wires mixed up on the back of the alternator, also the belt tension should be checked and the battery terminals cleaned.

SOURCE: blows fuses

SOUNDS LIKE THE ALARM HORN IS SHORTED, CAUSING FUSE TO BLOW.
TRY UNPLUGGING ALARM HORN & SEE IF FUSE STILL BLOWS.
IF IT DOES NOT BLOW, REPLACE ALARM HORN.

Battery dies on 1997 jaguar xj6 with new alternator

You have a draw on the battery. Short circuit somewhere in the electrical. Must use OHM meter and start checking wires, Start near the alternator and ignitoin work away from there. A quick look over all your wires to see if there are any noticable cuts or frays may save you some time if your lucky. Jags are known for electrical problems.

sound like bad battery cables.replace them.the positive battery cable is old and have a lot of resistance not allowing power to the alternator to charge battery.if battery cable good check alternator connector wires.make sure they are not damage also check alternator fuse and fuse link.turn off radio before removing battery wires so you wont lose radio code.

jump the car started then disconect the negative from the battery if the car dies then your alternator is no good.but if it dos't then your battery is not holding charge and how old is your battery or check the fuse under the hood see if the fuse for the alternator is good. if you do not know wich one it is just get a tester
and test all the battery by hooking you tester to the negative port and check the fuses. let me know if this helped you thank you www. loseparts.com

You more than likely burned the fuse for the car's radio and will likely need to be replaced.

Battery Dead, can't get into trunk to jumpstart

remove the bottom cover below the engine and connect a battery charger or jump box to the big red wire on the alternator. Ground to the alternator case or engine block.

Wait about 5 minutes - and try to pop the trunk. Then charge the battery as normal.

My daughter has a 1997 Nissan 200sx. She left her lights on and her battery died. Her cousin tried jumper cables but put them on wrong the first time. He did succeed in getting her car started but most of...

A large fuse is blown close to the battery...40 or 50 amp....took out the alternator and several other things...since you know the reverse jump took the fuse out you can jump the fuse with a large gauge wire (jumper wire) and get it going or ...get the right fuse from the local parts house. This fuse is obvious when you look at it, might have a small plastic cover
