Hi, I've moved up north, winters are real cold here. And everybody uses block heaters at night. I looked for a plug for it, didn't find it. Kia Rio 5, 2008. Does anybody have info where it is?

The block heater does not come standard with a new car. It is an option that usually installs in a freeze plug location. If your Rio is so equipped it will have the plug located near the front grill.

A qualified automotive service center needs to do this installation. The integrity of the cooling system requires a secure installation preventing a premature failure.

They are usually around 400 watts and I would suggest a timer.

Depending on the temperature of your home location it is not always a necessity.

The choice of lubrication oil and CCA (cold crank amps) battery is critical to ensure below freezing (sub zero) starts. Realize that the Rio will be parked at times in blistery below freezing temperatures with out the power available for the block heater!!!

Hope this helps?

Where do i plug in a block heater cord to the block of a kia rio 5 2009

THE BLOCK HEATER IS USUALLY ATTACHED TO THE OIL PAN SO IT CAN KEEP THE OIL WARM THATS WHAT IT DOES AND IT IS MAGNETIC IN MOST CASES BUT IT COULD BE BOLTED IN I JUST TRIED TO READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL AND IT'S NOT LISTED SO LOOK FOR A SQUARE OBJECT BOLTED TO THE OIL PAN A DONE WITH A MAGNET AND ONCE YOU GET IT OUT YOU CAN POSSIBLY FIX IT GOOD LUCK STEPHEN

I don't know if I have a block heater or not in my kia rio rx-v

I dont believe you have a block heater on your vehical, these usually are an accessory item that can be purchased through the KIA parts department if there even avaliable for your model, I dont beleive they are a standard item....

First thing to test would be the thermostat. If this is stuck open the engine would never reach correct temperature.

No abs light on dash soft brakes

The most likely cause of your problems is a bad master cylinder. If you have had any recent brake work done then it could just be air in the system.
