I would say the battery warning light is in fact on, and the alternator is not charging the battery.
Problem could be the alternator, or something in the circuit between the alternator and the battery. Usually a faulty battery will not turn the warning light on but I would have the battery tested anyway.

SOURCE: battery drain and light and lock problem

the bcm should not drain the battery, make sure the battery does not have a bad cell in it this could cause the battery to run down without anything draining it.

The light does it say Water? You are sure about this? Please have this checked by a mechanic asap,. if it is starting to run hot if you catch it early then you can avoid serious damage to the engine. The smell may be a leaking engine water pump or other component of the engines cooling sytstem.

2012 Ford Territory Awd deisel, the water in fuel warning on how to fix it please?

The water sensor is often placed in the sediment bowl under the fuel filter and clearly it is time to drain it, collecting the diesel for observation in a clean container. If there is more than a few match-head sized drops it would be wise to examine the fuel tank for water ingress and either drain the tank and dry it or add something like Wynns Dri-fuel emulsifier if only a little water is present.

I suggest you begin by reading the owners handbook for the vehicle to establish the exact function of the light.

The light might not go out afterwards but need switching off with diagnostic equipment.

How to find battery drain

This will be difficult to find as you are trying to find something that is a half watt unit. It will be a hit and miss affair and will need patience. Start with disconnecting the battery lead off the alternator (main red wire) and see if you get a reading. It may be a leaking diode . It may be a power wire that is almost shorting out on a sharp edge in the body. It may be a sat nav. unit left on or an LED light say in the glove box , boot , gear indicator . Just some ideas but you are looking for something that uses almost no power.

I used a trouble light from the neg. post on my battery to the ground cable when it was disconnected and it was pulsating I have no idea whats going on

It could be a relay or the computer among other things.
Normally when you are looking for a power drain you pull fuses until the light goes out. Then check that circuit.

My guess is you have something in the car that is draining the battery.
A mechanic would disconnect the battery and look for something that is on when everything is turned off, or a short to ground.
Its also possible the battery is defective.

My car runs good for about ten miles but then when I am tring to pass someone and hit the gas the engine seams to die. It don't shut off just starts jumping. The Rpms are jumping between 2500 and 3000....

it is most likely not water in the tank. if it were water you would only notice this when you fuel gets low. chances are it is sensor like throttle position or mass air flow. does the check engine light come on? if it does, take it to your local auto parts store and have the code checked.

If hot water is hitting you in the feet change your heater core under the dash it has a hole in it. Something wet could be your problem wet connections will drain a battery over night.

I own a 2008 dodge ram diesel 6.7 has a lightning symbol in the middle of this ) ( and a check gauges message when this comes on.

The indicator you see is call a water in fuel warning lamp. ==== This a very important warning and you will need to take corrective action ASAP. ==== As a diesel owner, you need to know diesel fuel can attract moisture. When condensation (water droplets) collect inside the fuel tank,it will contaminate the diesel. ==== The corrective action is to locate the drain **** on the fuel filter and CAREFULLY drain the water from the bottom of the filter housing. (with engine off / key out) ==== The water in fuel warning light will go off as soon as the water is drained. ==== Use one bottle of RED Iso-Heet to remove any additional water inside the fuel tank.mustgo_54.jpg
