Check under the dashboard for loose ground wires going to the frame of the car. Also check for wires that appear warn from abrasion from moving vent rods.

SOURCE: headlights wont come on and bright lights won't stay on hold bright light switch and blower works

I had the same problem. The solution is simple; the ignition switch needs to be replaced. This is an easy do-it-yourself project. Here are instructions:

Check for a switch on ebay, they are about $15. After 10 years they wear out.

SOURCE: headlights wont come on, but parking lights work...i dont get it

Was sent in by another poster, just posting his results which fixed mine. Problem was relay $50.00 at GM only.

Check the relay module. 45 or 46. on the engine relay block. you can swap the two they are the same part number, then you will know. Dont start the engine, just check the lights. If it works replace the relay module. You may have to order the part from the parts store. Or go to the dealer to get it.

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT multifunction switch problem?

I had the exact same problem, I changed the "ignition switch" because the contacts inside were burned, this is why you see all those troubles coming in and out at different moments. It costed me 150$ to do it myself, buy the switch on an online reseller, must cheaper than the dealer! Now everything is back to normal on my Grand Prix GT 99 exept that my headlights don't light up automatically when starting the car... I have to check my fuse/relay and switch to make sure everything is ok on that side.

Good luck.

Blower fan not working at all 2004 Buick rendezvous

Which system ?
HVAC Systems - Manual HVAC Systems - Automatic
If automatic it's probably the blower motor control processor .
Blower Motor Control Processor The blower motor control processor is an interface between the HVAC control module and the blower motor. The blower motor speed control, Blower motor speed signal, battery positive voltage and ground circuits enable the control processor to operate. The HVAC control module sends the commanded blower motor speed to the control processor through a 0 to 12-volt linear ramped blower motor speed control circuit. As the blower motor speed control voltage increases, the blower motor speed increases. The control processor sends the actual blower speed to the control module through a 0 to 12-volt blower motor speed signal circuit. The processor supplies 12volts to the blower motor through the blower motor voltage supply circuit. The control processor uses the blower motor ground as a low side control to adjust the blower motor speed.

GMC 2004 Envoy blows heat even with blower off ... Why ?

The relay in your blower motor is stuck on, there is a TSB for this issue. Replace the blower motor resistor and you'll be back in business.
How does the resistor get power if the fuse is pulled?
Replacing the resistor will cure both problems. TSB is a technical service bullitin seen below

Air is redirected from the vents when you turn the headlights on

if you have vacuum operated headlight covers, these will take pressure from the system to stay open and light the road..because the actuators are spring loaded sothe louvers close without any pressure..this vacuum also operates the heater controls and vents,, check the light covers for broken or loose hoses and also check the vacuum reservoir and its hoses too..prossess of elimination kido..good luck..unless theres a cut hose behind the dash somewhere..withthe engine running listen for a hissing sound..it will tell you if there is a leak in a hose..

If low beams are working then the relay is fine. Sounds like the dimmer switch is bad.

I have a 2004 chevy trailblazer. Car was stalling at light when I had the ac on. I cleaned out the throttle body. Everything was fine. Now the ac doesn't blow out of the top vents to your face. What...

The HVAC system may need to be recalibrated. Set all HVAC controls and switches to their OFF or CCW positions, then disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Reconnect battery and don;t touch any of the HVAC controls for 2 - 3 minutes.
If this does not fix the problem, you may have a stuck door or bad actuator in the HVAC system.

I have a 2005 GMC Envoy. I had a battery issue that has been fixed. I am not sure if this is related or that I just noticed. 1. My headlights stay on even though there is plenty of light outside/daytime...

1. The headlights are working as designed. These are Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and are on during daylight, but at a lowered intensity. At night they go to full intensity.

2. It sounds like the HVAC system may have lost calibration after the battery issue. Try turning all HVAC controls off or to their full CCW positions, then disconnect the battery for about 5 - 10 minutes. Reconnect the battery and don't touch any thing for a few minutes. If this does not make your AC work again, you may have a problem with one of the blend doors or its actuator motor. BTW, there is no vacuum operating the HVAC system, it is all electric.

Sounds like a short in the wiring or fuse panel. As new as it is, I would suggest a mechanic as troubleshooting wiring in newer cars is not only difficult, but also dangerous. Many a shade-tree mechanic has set off the airbags that way!

Automatic climate control or manual ? blower motor control processor , probably . or the blower motor , or the HVAC control module etc.... All these are just guesses , without testing the electrical circuits . Did you check the BLOWER fuse 40amp located in the under hood fuse / relay box And the HVAC /ECAS fuse 10amp in the under hood fuse box ? Plus HVAC I fuse 10amp located in the I/P fuse box .
