Question about 1991 Toyota Celica

1 Answer

In a 91 toyota celica gts, where do the two alternator connector wires, opposite the alternator, connect?

I replaced the alternator in my 2.2 Celica and can't remember where all the wiring harnesses connect. I have a chilton's manual but can't find any images of the actual wire connections. I already have the "alternator wire" and the "alternator connector" connected to the alternator, but I don't know where both ends of the "alternator connector" connect. I have one extra connector with two wires, one is red with a black stripe and the other is a black with blue.

I've used the length of the wire to see what it could connect to but there is really nothing that I can see or feel anywhere.

I have three I'm trying to upload. The first is the two wire clusters coming from the alternator, the second is of both plugs; the one i know is where it goes is plugged in, and the third picture is of the plug i need a home for, ha ha

do you have a marker side light out or something because that wire looks awful long and with that being the male end there is a connector that opposite this.. using the wire length as a guide.. start looking for the "other end " of this connector it may be a sensor hookup also..like a temp sensor..or you may have disconnected the wire for the ca clutch by accident..they are usually bundled together..repost please..

This project started with replacing the timing belt so i've only been on the left side of my engine, except for replacing the battery. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the male plug not having a home, but now when i put power to the car without turning over the engine, the radiator fan starts running.

the plug doesn't reach the radiator fan wires or anything over there that i can see. i was kinda thinking that there could be a wire that when disconnected, the female side fell behind something or didn't stretch as far so it needs to be restretched back to it's original spot to connect.

but i have no idea where that female side would be located, ha ha

Sounds like the connection from the battery to the chassis ground is bad. Try replacing the Negative battery wire and make sure where it attaches to the frame is as rust free as possible

I'm trying to clear codes for a 1990 Celica GTS. Any hints??

You might try removing the battery connectors for five minutes and replacing back.

If the codes do not disappear, please you might have to get a scanner to do that.

Cheers.
