The 1999 Quest manual shows the fuel filter in the engine compartment aganist the firewall. Mine is located under the vehicle below the lft side sliding door. More to the back end of the vehicle. ou'll see some lines that lead to a black cover. Take off the cover and there is the filter.

Rigoe the points for the timing belt are usually located on the sprokets in conection with marks or dots on the engine block some where around the sprockets that hold the timing belt. Remenber to bring the piston number one to TDC (top dead center), this means you have to locate the piston number one, take the spark plug out and turn the cranshaft (the one with the pulley) by hand until the piston is all the way up. On the distributor the rotor should point to the spark-plug wire number one (you can make a mark outside of the distributor cap where the number one spark-plug wire is pointing so when you take the cap off you can see if the rotor is pointing the same direction). With the timing belt cover off you are going to be able to aling all this points at the exact locacation all together. So we have: Piston number one at TDC, The rotor(enside the distributor cap) pointing to the number one spark-plug wire, and the mark of the sprockets pointing the marks of the engine block( litle dot or dash). If you get all this right you are have done a good job and ready to make a trip you can get all this just by turning the cranshaft by hand with a rachet and a big socket. God bless you.

SOURCE: changing the fuel filter

Starting at the fuel tank.. follow the fuel lines towards the front of the car. Make sure when you replace the fuel filter that you put the arrow on the fiter the right direction, otherwise there will be no flow and the engine will not start,

Good Luck!

How to replace fuel filter in 1999 nissan quest

Should be in the engine compartment or under the van in the fuel line.
My 97 is behind the engine near the master cylinder.
There are clips on each end of the lines you release to remove the filter.
Make sure you run the fuel out of the line before you disconnect the lines.

Strong fuel smell in cabin. 2005 Nissan. 2005 Quest. Any solutions?

Well first if you smell gasoline don't start the vehicle, check the entire fuel system locate the filter and check for leaking, also this vehicle uses a cabin filter to filter incoming air to the passenger compartment, locate this filter and replace it. there located sometimes behind the glove box door, or under the front cowling under the hood, in that space just under the wipers, If you can't find the solution and the smell persists, you need professional help ( with the car)
