in 1997, most cars have 6 or more marks.

Nissan V6? is it (guessing i am)

• 1995 cc VQ20DE V6

if doing major cam work , you will need far more that just mark data.

if doing serious work, i recommend the below

1. a real FSM, from NISSAN if Nissan.
2. alldata.com

warning:1
all nissan engines are All Interference
so doing cam work or finding engine dead,
do a leak down test by hand before cranking engine
or bend the valves.
after replacing chain, do a cyl. leak down test (a tool)
and if it fails, the valves were bent, do not crank engine
or the damage WILL cascade $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Here's a link to your camshaft position sensor.

You don't say what engine it has. The 4-cyl was a better than the V6 for oil leaks.

The V6 had oil leaks from

-rear bank cam cover gasket

-distributor o-ring seal

-oil filter bracket o-ring seal

-crankshaft nose oil seal (less common)

-rear main bearing oil seal (expensive, just leave it)

The 4 cyl leaked oil from

-distributor o-ring seal

-camshaft cover gasket

-rear main bearing seal (expensive, leave it)

if your shure that the pan is not leaking i would check the front seal on the transmisson. if its the front seal there should be fluid leaking from the flywheel cover.

Good-Loose or ruptured hose
Not Too Bad-Worn seal in water pump
Terrible-Cracked Block or blown head gasket

Counter-clockwise on the distributor in the figure...it is 1-2-3-4-5-6....#5 is the blue one and #6 is the purple one then #1 and so on....
