Question about 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity

I have a 93 pontiac grandam.quad oc engine.i have whiteish foamy sometimes tannish color in my oil.not losing collant,doesnt overheat,had a compression test done and showed no leaks.what could it be?its driving me nuts!

    ok its 2 degrees out so i went out to start car for like 15 minutes and noticed water dripping and also would car show overheating if my thermostat is faulty water dripping from tailpipe.also if i have a faulty thermostat would car still

That really should be oil in your coolant. That's not good. You did a good job describing it.
If you will take off a cylinder head, (that will be happening soon!) you will see holes large and small in your engine block.
The holes have 3 functions.
The biggest ones are cylinders with pistons that make the engine run and the car move.
Two other smaller holes carry coolant in one and motor oil in the other. Coolant flows all over in passages inside the engine to cool it.
Oil flows from the oil pump to the top of the engine to lubricate your camshaft, etc.
A head gasket is leaking oil from the oil passage into the coolant passage.
That's becasue the oil passage has about 40# pressure while the coolant has about 15# pressure.

i would check the heater hoses and heater core if equip. the compression test would not show it unless the heater was on during test.

SOURCE: why is my antifrreze disappearing

this is the result of a bad head gasket, may not be bad enough right now to cause a problem. but this is definately a major problem that needs to be fixed asap, to prevent the heads from warping, and or seazing the engine from oil mixing with antifreeze and making it too thin to protect the metals. the reason you dont see anything is due to the piston acting like an air pump on its cycle, this allows the coolant to be sucked in, burnt with the gas, and out the exhaust. have the coolant system pressure tested to acurately diagnose this.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. This is a sign of rust in the oil. It gives off that tannish rusty color. Make sure your coolant water is not the same color. If this is the case, it is not ideal. Since it is an older model vehicle, rust might have set up inside somewhere. Some other types of oil may give off this color also. Oil is brown when new and turns black over time.

I have a '99 Plymouth Neon that overheats. I have replaced the thermostat and even the radiator. Problem is that it stills gets hot. What next?

Do a collant system flush. You have already spent too much money because the clog may be in the engine. Big big warning. Before doing a cooling system flush, check your oil color. Should be normal. After the flush make sure it is still normal and not tannish. This spells trouble big time.

I'have a 93 pontiac grand am with a 2.3 liter Quad ohc engine that I'bougth from a friend recently when I'did an oil change drove the car for about 400 miles and the check oil light came on and it's been...

If it is full of oil and the oil pressure light is not on. I would drive it. This engine also has a oil level sensor that may be bad making the light to be on. 10w30 is ok but always put in what it calls for next time.

I have a 97 328is. should i have the motor looked at for driving it hot fro a little ways?

no it should be fine as long as you put collant in it and it is not leaking collant anywhere make sure collant topped off

Looking for where the cooling fan relay is on a 93 grandam 2.3 shoc quad 4

should be on the passenger side just aft of the strut tower. there is like a pack of 4 relays jamed in there look at the color of the wires going into the fan 1 shoud be black the other is blue I think. then look for the relay with the blue (or whatever color is on your fan) that should be the one. hope this helps

I put a 95 Grand Am Quad 4 dual overhead cam in a 93 GrandAm with a quad 4 single overhead cam in it can I change the wire harness and make it work.

Sometimes the manufacturers use the same main harness for multiple vehicles. Check part number with dealer on both harnesses. If they are the same, likely you will only need to change the engine harness & computers.
